*Value different than last year's report because the three Pre-CP students are omitted since their scores were not true placement.
**Please note there are still two students from the 07 placement group that have not yet completed the College Prep Program. 10 students from Spring 07 placement have withdrawn before completing the CPP. (1 student from Spring 08 has withdrawn)
***These students have only been in the CP program three terms. Scores are included to show progress.
IBT
This Fall term all full time and some adjunct CP faculty became Certified Testing Administrators for the Internet Based TOEFL Testing Center to be hosted at HTIC pending setup from the NOS department. Faculty Forums, Blogs, and Activity
This year the faculty held a number of forums both through email, blog, and in person. Discussion centered on writing, vocabulary, the Student Portfolio System, and rubrics. Decisions and actions arising from such meetings included revision to existing rubrics and the addition of a new rubric for evaluating in-class essays,

Service Learning
This Fall term Core 4 students in HTIC's College Prep Program visited Ka'ahumanu Elementary School once a week in order to provide one-on-one English Language Instruction for their ELL Program. HTIC students taught the culturally diverse elementary school students basic English. In turn, our HTIC students learned the value of doing something for the local community. Experiences were documented on the service learning blog,

Curriculum
Most students from Spring 07 have completed the 5 level program started last year. Institutional research is currently being done to determine how many terms it takes the average student to complete the program. Following discussions and feedback from both CP and LA Faculty, the writing curriculum will also be changed to focus more on skills and less on research writing and academic formatting.
Technology
Both Moodle and the Student Portfolio System were used extensively this term by both students and faculty as can be evidenced by the sheer amount of material posted online. Students are now able to easily refer to their work, particularly writing samples, and track their progress in the program. Blogs serve as a tool for reflecting on field trips and service learning and even the CP Program as a whole. CP instructors filled out a questionnaire which shed light on the the ups and downs of the systems. One highlight was the need for more training. Since then online video tutorials have been developed. Over the next year, the CP faculty plans to develop evaluative assessment for SPS as well as formalize the use of of it by students and their self-assessment at the completion of the program.
