Meeting Minutes
October 5, 2006
1) Presentation to the AMS for Clubs Benefit Fund
- Proposal submitted to the AMS (can be found on FIC blog)
- Will be presenting it Friday Oct. 6 to FinCom
- Laura and Kate will be presenting (Matt to email them the proposal)
2) Current Account Balance
- ($-113)
- Bianca is getting last year’s transaction record to see what’s going on
3) Loan
- For our share of the costs related to the N.UG. campaign, $308.59
- Will be repaid by a) pancake breakfast, b) GRS dinner, and possibly c) money from Justine’s brother’s fundraiser
- Matt will submit application to FinCom
4) Art Show
Photo Sponors
- We are trying to find sponsors to held us with the costs of printing photos
- They can sponsor a photo (which means cover the $16.90 printing cost) and have recognition at the show
- Sponsors also have priority to buy the photos for an additional $25, the proceeds going the fundraiser aspect of the campaign
- Matt will email exec the generic proposal and they can forward it to people they think might be interested, proposal includes link to flickr site showing what photos can be sponsored
- Immediate payment not necessary as Katie has covered the initial cost, but we do need written confirmation that they intend to sponsor it so we can make the signs for the show
- So far, UBC International has said No, YouLead has said Yes ($100), and no response yet from Liu Institute, International Relations Program, Global Resource Systems Program, or the UBC Social Justice Centre
Volunteers
- Katie needs people to set up on Monday and also to stick around the gallery for the week, she will email people and they can tell her their availability
- Matt will make poster to advertise
- There will be web articles on the conflict as well as Guluwalk posters around the Gallery
5) Fund Development
- Rhianna is having some family issues and will sadly no longer be able to join us
- Allison Booth has shown an interest in that role and will be asked to take over
7) Guluwalk Plans
- Going door-to-door the week before to collect donations
- Postering campus
- PSA on CiTR
- FIC exec are officers on fbook group, add your friends
- If funding comes through booth construction to be up a few days before Guluwalk and at campaign events
- Francesca will email further developments
8) Pancake Breakfast
- Need to have people poster campus next week
- Have griddles, if anyone has more bring them
- Ask your grocery store for a donation (Laura will email formal letter)
- Laura will email people and see when they can be there on Monday
9) Fundraiser @ The Gallery Lounge
- Need to find bands to play that don’t need equipment (acoustic? drums?)
- How can we keep focus on the campaign? Will have Guluwalk booth there and any photos remaining from the Art Gallery show
- $2 min. donation for entry with additional donations accepted
10) FICUBC posterboard missing from Go Global Fair
- If it’s lost, Matt is going to kick Hong Kong’s ass
11) Travel Cuts Account
- FICUBC is registered with Travel Cuts
- If members book flights, say they’re with us and we get a cumulative portion of total sales that will go towards flights for our group (i.e. paying for conference attendance)
