What am I missing? What do I need to turn in?
- In class we do stuff everyday
- -- Almost all assignments will be held by students and turned in as a "GROUP."
- I stamp assignments in class.
- I look at the assignments in class (before I stamp them) and we review the answers.
- Absent students (and students that did their work late) need to see me to get stamps for their work.
- Each stamp is worth 3 points.
- I give students a "comp book group" organizer sheet like this one:
The key to grades and missing assignments is IN the composition books - kept by students.
Please use the website to be PROACTIVE. -
- Please look at your students composition notebook on a regular basis.
- Compare the assignments in the comp book to the assignment list contained on this website.
- Check the calendar for what is due next class period.
- Check the composition book to be sure the assignment (due next class) is completed and ready to turn in.
- Help your student clearly label their assignments and take pride in their work.
- If an assignment (either past or one due next period) cannot be found - then that student has something to do.
- There is a significant relationship between completing assignments - formulating questions (to things not understood) - and test/quiz performance.
- Help your student prepare for tests and quizzes the day before.
Grades are REACTIVE -
- Of course we will all look at grades.
- I believe it is more important to focus on being prepared for class each day.
- We should strive to solve problems before they occur.
- If we wait until a student has a bad grade to act, then the we have multiplied the problem set.
- Recovery is much more complicated and stressful than the prevention.
