How to run a Google Map Maker mapping party
- 2-3 weeks before: Go to http://sites.google.com/site/mapmakeruserhelp/mappingkit and download e-mail templates, presentation deck and one-pager.
- 2-3 weeks before: Secure
a date and space for your party. Make sure the venue has enough
computer space and Internet connectivity to handle your audience.
- 1-2 weeks before: Send out invitation e-mail to participants. Click here for suggestions on who to invite.
- 1 week before: Review presentation deck, customize it to your locale and familiarize yourself with how to demo Google Map Maker.
- 1-2 days before: Send out reminder e-mail with agenda (click link for sample) to participants.
- 1 hour before: Arrive early to set up computers (if you're providing them) and etc. etc.
- Party!
- Make sure all participants leave with one-pager [link coming soon].
- 1-2 days after: Send
follow-up e-mail to participants and post
on Map Maker Google Group. You might be featured on our blog
with before and after screenshots detailing your hard work!
- Have friends in other areas? Send them these instructions on how they can run their own mapping parties!
