"Win Score": A basketball metric developed by Professor David Berri of the Wages of Wins Journal. It measures how a player's statistical production correlates with wins. The number in the chart actually represents the player's "Win Score Above Average," in other words, the amount of Win Score points a player or his opponent produces above the average number of Win Score points produced at the player's positional mix every 48 minutes. Berri's research shows a very strong correlation between the number of Win Score points a player accumulates above the average at his position and the number of team wins.
Win Score Formula: Points + Rebounds +1/2 Assists +1/2 Blocks + Steals -Turnovers-Field Goals Attempted-1/2 Personal Fouls-1/2 Free Throws Attempted / minutes played x 48 - the Win Score Average for the player's positional mix.
Win Rate: The number of wins the player produces every 48 minutes. The NBA average Win Rate is 0.100.
Win Contribution: This is akin to baseball's "Replacement Value over Average Player". 0.000 is (roughly) the average player's contribution, and such a contribution would, if spread over an entire team, produce a 41-41 record. So every positive number represents the player's contribution to making the team a winning team (a +.500 team), and every negative number represents the player's contribution to making the team a losing team.
