Thank You
Dear Pastor Deborah & church family, Thank you so much for my Mother's wonderful Memorial Service.
I received so many kind words and support from everyone. My family is aware of how much our church family means to Jerry & I and were happy to come from Buffalo and have her Memorial Service at LUCC. We are truly blessed to be a part of such an incredible church family. The music was wonderful, thanks to Irina. The lunch was wonderful and thanks to Lynette for organizing and everyone for providing the food. Thanks to Larry & Kay helping, also to Larry for taping the service.
We are forever grateful, Love Jerry & Bonnie
A Word from the Pastor
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our service today. We are asking the question: Is God calling me? That’s right! IS GOD CALLING YOU? No, not to ministry perhaps, but is God asking you to do something daring in your life? I don’t know and maybe you don’t either but I urge you to spend time with God this week and ask the question: Are you calling me to something? … and then sit back and LISTEN!
Grace and Peace this week ahead, Pastor Deborah
PASTOR'S OFFICE HOURS
Starting in September, Pastor Deborah will try to maintain the following schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday – in Lakeville. Tuesday – working from home. Feel free to call her on her cell phone at 472-4284. You can ALWAYS call her on her cell phone in an emergency.
September Mission is Livonia Food Pantry!
The Mission of the Month for September is the Livonia Area Food Pantry. 10.5% of New York households have lower quality diets or must resort to emergency food because they cannot always afford the food they need.
Livonia Parish Pantry Update...what a difference the food cupboard will be enjoying! So far you have filled 2 grocery carts with non perishable and cleaning supplies. We're going for full Grocery Cart # 3 today! You also have contributed $254 so far to help with the purchase of dairy, meat and eggs, and several people have volunteered to help with the packing/delivering of food to people in need.
If you would like to contribute stamps from grocery shopping at West's, you can place on the Livonia Food Pantry card at the check-out. If you would like to volunteer your time, there are forms available-please see Bryan Mentry. If you would like to add to the monetary collection, please use a pew envelope and write "Pantry" on it.
Contributions of non-perishable food and cleaning items will continue the next 2 Sundays. In addition on Communion Sundays the children will be collecting your gifts throughout the year.
FALL BIBLE STUDY – Wed. Evenings 7-8:30pm
This fall we will be studying the Psalms. There are 150 of them and in ten weeks we won’t be able to read them all. However we will be looking at many of them according to what kind of psalm they are: lament (or complaint), praise, gratitude, etc. Come to ANY or ALL sessions!
Social Hour Hosts are needed!
The sign-up list to host Social Hour following worship each Sunday is posted on the hallway bulletin board. Please help keep our weekly tradition going! it's easy to do, especially if you team up with another person/couple. For healthy snacks (like fruit and vegetables), we still have money from a Noyes grant for reimbursement. If you have questions, please see Rhonda Wert.
It's time to clean out those closets, garages, attics, wherever you are keeping all those items that you are never going to use again. We will be collecting for this year's Fall "Bargain" & Bake Sale that will be held on October 6th, from 8 am to 2 pm. We will be setting up the week of September 30th. As usual we can use all available help! Bring a dish to pass & enjoy our luncheon as we take a break from the work.
Luncheon at Central Presbyterian in Geneseo
There will be a luncheon with International Peacemaker Karla Ramos-Amaya on Friday, Sept. 28th at 11:30 a.m. Karla is the academic coordinator of a theological program for pastors in El Salvador. She also works at a radio station that broadcasts messages about peace, and she works in rural communities teaching youth about non-violence and peacemaking.
Accordion Fest
The Lima Presbyterian Church at 7295 W. Main St. in Lima is presenting an Accordion Fest on September 30th at 3 p.m. They will be featuring Polish, Italian, Irish, and old time music. This is presented by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. Admission is free.
Prayer List
If you would like to have someone on our Prayer List, please fill out a pew card, and include your name. You may then put the card in the collection plate.
Let us pray for our families, World Leaders, those serving in the military, those who have served our country and have been wounded, those suffering from cancer, those recovering from operations, those recovering from trauma or accidents, those who suffer from alienation or ill-will, those who don’t have enough to eat and those who need work.
