All your friends are online. So why are you still surfing the web alone?
Browzmi has created a service for friends to instant message and surf the web together. Browzmi's social surfing makes the web more fun by allowing friends to share and discover stuff online in real-time, like you're there together. Watching movies, discovering new music, playing games and sharing photos online is much more fun together with your friends than it is browsing alone.
Social recommendations and discovery of online content are becoming increasingly popular for navigating the web. To date, recommendation and discovery services have not provided a real-time, synchronous experience for people. Browzmi is providing an environment where friends can explore, share and discover the entire web like they are there together. Browzmi is not attempting to replace your favorite websites - it wants to make your experience across your favorite websites more social by allowing you to go anywhere on the web with your friends.
How it works Browzmi is like your own virtual web browser with your friends in it. Browzmi is more like instant messaging than screen sharing. It's buddy list displays you and your friends' real-time location on the web as you surf around in Browzmi. First, you can surf to any website using the Browzmi address bar. And you can IM, rate pages, make comments and save favorites as you surf, and these "update" actions are shared with your friends in real-time. To follow your friends around the web, you simply click on your friend's location in the buddy list and Browzmi takes you there and updates the buddy list to show you on the same page as your friend.
Browzmi was built for surfing with friends, so your web surfing activity is shared inside the Browzmi network with your friends or everyone, depending on your privacy settings. If you want to surf in private, just hop over to another tab or window in your browser or simply sign off. Browzmi does not know where you are surfing outside the Browzmi.com service, so it's a completely opt-in sharing experience.
100% web-based with an optional Firefox extension Browzmi takes the concept of social surfing into the cloud. The application is 100% web-based so that friends can IM and surf together using just a browser (it is compatible with IE, Firefox and Safari web browsers). You can also access your Browzmi account from any computer to surf with friends where ever you go.
Browzmi also offers a Firefox add-on that maximizes Browzmi performance and usability. When you install
Browzmi Homebase, everything looks the same, but surfing in Browzmi performs just like surfing in your browser and all of your favorite sites work perfectly. Homebase allows the pages you surf in Browzmi and the data associated with these pages to bypass the Browzmi servers and travel directly to you. (Without Homebase installed, Browzmi utilizes a unique proxy approach to surf the web within its website.)
How is this unique in the social surfing space? Browzmi is the first social surfing offering that stands alone as a web service and does not require any software downloads. In addition, because Browzmi is not a web browser add-on (like all other social surfing products), it has greater flexibility to embrace the developer community interested in creating customizations for Browzmi, such as update actions, widgets and themes.
Future plans Browzmi is just getting started with its beta. Browzmi's vision is to create a social surfing platform that can be customized and extended very much like a desktop web browser, except that all the add-ons and customizations will be web services. Browzmi believes there is an opportunity to provide a more personalized and social surfing experience that benefits from the network effect of being in the cloud. The Browzmi team is very open to ideas on how to integrate Browzmi into popular web services to increase its value.
In the near term, Browzmi will be introducing the ability to chat across the top instant messaging networks via it's XMPP-based chat features.

It's like your own virtual web browser with your friends in it. Note the web address bar at the top of the Browzmi UI. The left sidebar displays your buddy list and other personalized widgets; the right sidebar displays stuff related to the page you are viewing.
Pictured Above - Browzmi Friends Tab. Browzmi has pages where you can see an activity stream from your friends and other users. So things you save, rate and comment will be saved for your friends to see if they are not online at the same time. Pictured Above - Surfing Flickr together in Browzmi. Here you see me (Travis) on the same page with two other friends. As we surf around the web, Browzmi displays our movements in real-time. So we can now follow each other around the web. As a result, sharing and discovery of good stuff online becomes real-time, like we're there together.
