Here’s how it works. . .

This business plan outline is designed to get you and your team past writer's block and keep this important project moving. To make it easy for you to incorporate this outline into your actual Business Plan we have designed it with a number of built-in features (listed below). Of course, as you progress you will naturally edit, update and improve the text. You have a good start nevertheless.

Search & Replace

Use Search/Replace to to change items like: (Company), (product). You can use the same Search/Replace criteria throughout BizPlanBuilder — set it up once, then change each section, one-after-another, before you proceed to another task.

Headlines

Each section has an 18-point bold headline at the top. Sub-Headlines that break up the copy and highlight each sub-section are in place and in 12-point bold print.

Structured Sentences & Paragraphs

Sentences and paragraphs (in as many places as possible) are already started for you and they prompt you to complete them. This will save time and a lot of typing. As you will see, you can just simply read it through and your mind automatically kicks into gear with the next thoughts. Just start writing.

Prompts, Ideas & Suggestions

Replace the XXXs with actual data, names, products, etc. (In parentheses, after the XXXs is an explanation, suggestion and/or instruction for what is needed here.)

• Below each section are several lines, in italics with a bullet in front, elaborating on what should be covered in the section.

• We recommend that you leave these in place until your plan is complete — to double check the contents of each section.

• Use Search to “Find Next” “•” when it's time to delete these portions.

Some Suggestions

Get a 3-ring binder and two sets of 5-tab dividers. This will make it easy for you to separate the sections and maintain the hardcopy print-outs.

Print a copy of the sections that you will be using from the disk. It will be easier to work from your notebook (because the contents will be changed) as you build your plan.

Save a copy of BizPlanBuilder onto your hard disk or make a back-up copy. As you develop your business plan you will dramatically alter the present look of BizPlanBuilder. You may want to review the original contents in the future.

Long after your original business plan is completed, many individual sections can be very useful for preparing proposals or for developing a specific plan. (e.g. Focus Group Research, Public Relations, etc.)
