• How do I modify a Firefox extension to work with Flock?
• it is possible to manually edit the extension to attempt to add support for [higher versions of] Flock.  First, download the xpi file for the extension.  Once you have it, open it up in an archive manager such as WinRAR [ or http://www.7-zip.org/], for Windows, or "The Unarchiver"[http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/theunarchiver.html], for Mac OS X.  Locate the file install.rdf and open it up in notepad or your favorite text editor.  Locate the <targeApplication> section and modify or add the Flock section.  Add install.rdf back into the xpi file (archive the files, including the install.rdf, into a zip archive file, with the name ending with ".xpi").

• ⁴ tips from the author: What I do though is go to preferences/invocation and set it to Toolbar mode, as I mentioned below. However what I didn't mention is why: It means the menu does not come up when selecting text! ONLY when you hit the enter key after you select text. Try it  :-)  It's much less obtrusive.  I recommend toolbar mode: hit enter and it hoists the selection to the toolbar, then use they keyboard shortcuts
