MINUTES OF THE APRIL RAQG MEETING

 

Attendance: There were 25 in attendance.

NEW BUSINESS:

CONGRATULATIONS:

 

Our own Cindy Fenster is president of WQI now for 2 years, she co-shares with Karen Hendrickson.

 

FABRIC CHALLENGES:

Linda has the ugly fabric picked out. Elroy is putting out a challenge using this fabric, so this fabric is the challenge for the airing of the quilts and may also be used for the Elroy quilt show challenge. Need to use ¼ of the fabric and have it done by Sat July 18 airing of the quilts have it at QQ July 17th the day before?

 

QQ Fall seminar

Judy Hascheider will teach her New York beauty technique. Linda will have kits made up for table runner to try her technique.

Also Chris Weinhold will present his large bag pattern

Oct 23, 24 25th October 2009, at the Voyager in Reedsburg.

 

QFL INFORMATION:

Quilter’s Football League is in effect from April through September. Info available at www.teamqfl.com. Linda presented an overview, as QQ is sponsoring a local team. This summer’s QFL has 52 store participants statewide and one in Duluth.

 

June 11, 12, 13th there will be a trip to Duluth, 2 nights at hotel, shop hop on the way up, see the Minnesota Quilt show the whole day on the 12th, and shop hop on the way home. This includes a full breakfast and hospitality late afternoon early eve. Linda Kirby is finalizing the details, watch your email.

 

QFL kickoff is Next Sunday April 19th, 11 am to 3 pm. We will have brats at the shop to kick off participation in the QFL, and to explain the program. Each month we get a free pattern for project of the month, and activities just for the fun of it throughout the summer. We are the Koala Team, our colors are purple and blue.  Two uniforms: the long vest, and or the sweatshirt vest. We will meet the first Thursday of each month to enjoy projects and activities and each other. $20 to join. Discounts all summer long. There will be bus trips to other participating shops. We need a member to write updates for the Reedsburg paper. This helps keep us in the community eye…Kris Scharfenburg volunteered. She speaks English and writes it too.

 

GUILD PUBLICITY

We are looking into setting up a website for the guild. We will also look at free websites.

Maybe WQI can help us. A blogsite would be free, Facebook is another option. (Note – As of this writing, if you are reading this you will be in our blogsite.)

 

 

INVITATION:

We are all invited to Mauston Library Mauston Guild , the Warrens quilt shop is doing a trunk show. Noon to 3.

 

RAFFLE QUILT:

We discussed and voted on Log Cabin Quilts to choose our Raffle Quilt. The Log Cabin which is displayed in the classroom" Little Prairie Pines" with pine bough appliqué received the most votes.

 

LECTURE SPEAKERS:

Kelly presented info on lecture, Sept 18, 2009, at the Voyager, Fri. night Scrap busters by

Jan Krueger and Linda Marcou. (Member, as of August 10) $5, Nonmembers $10.

Fees need to be paid by Sept first.

Sat workshops 2 choices: $30

  1. Jan Krueger, Patchwork borders, big notebook, $3 notebook charge, lots of patchwork borders, we will be sewing the borders, you can sign up with Kelly Kroon or Linda Kirby.
  2. Linda Marcous workshop is Trip Times Two, a colorwash quilt. The pattern is $15

Non Guild members are most welcome, and the lecture is $10 , workshop is $45.

These are usually $65 workshops.

Registration forms available at guild meeting from Kelly and will be available at QQ. There will be a sample of the trip times two quilt at QQ Sometime in June.

 

GUEST SPEAKER/DEMONSTRATION:

Kris designed a simple quilt carrying bag which she presented. Kris also handed out a sheet with the pattern on it.

 

TIP OF THE MONTH:

 

Cindy Fenster recommended the Color Tool from C&T which has red and green view finder.

 

ROUND ROBIN: 

 

Round robin updated by Deb Lambert. We are coming to the end or it and will decide to conclude or continue next meeting.

FAT QUARTER RAFFLE:  Next month fat quarters for the drawing are yellow.

Tuesday, not Monday.
