From WFM,

Subject: Attention All SAW Authors and Technical Reviewers: Your Voices Have Been Heard!

Since the beginning of SAW and Knowledge Capture there has been a missing link in the closed-loop feedback process. Authors and Contributors have been receiving emails systematically from SAW as their documents moved and were finalized through the Knowledge Capture workflow but Authors and Contributors to the knowledge base had no visibility to subsequent publishing activities.

When a document is created in Knowledge Capture and promoted to “Published” in the workflow the document changes from an mmr_na-123456 document id to a emr_na-c00123456 document id. When the final emr version is moved to SAW then the previous mmr version is replaced. There will always be a version of the document (mmr or emr) in SAW.

Note: Depending on the volume it may take a few days for the Editor/Publishers to process a solution from mmr to emr.

Effective September 12, 2008 a new process will be implemented by the Editor/Publisher team.

After the Editor/Publisher finishes the edit process and sends a document to “Final” an email will be sent to the author and contributors. This email will include the original mmr doc id, the title, and a link of what the new emr document in SAW will be. If your document does not show up in SAW within a 24-hour period, please use the Feedback tab in SAW to report this.

Sample Email Below:

Subject: [SAW Publication] mmr_na-xxxxxx is now emr_na-cxxxxxxxxx - Title

Congratulations! You have been sent this message because the document "Insert Title" (object name: mmr_na-182886) has now completed  the workflow and is about to be published to the various portals depending on the disclosure level.

In the next 24 hours you will be able to find the final version at http://sawpro.atlanta.hp.com/km/saw/view.do?docId=emr_na-cxxxxxxxxx.

·        Please open and review your document and provide feedback if needed.

·        If the document is not available please select the Feedback Tab in SAW and reference the missing document ID or paste the content of this email into the comments box.

Thanks for your contribution to the HP Knowledge base.

The enhancements, detailed below, include search improvements that will increase the speed of user searches to relevant content improving solution time. We urge all users to take the training prior to the release date to enable you to take full advantage of the improvements! For questions or comments, please contact Kim Nash, TS DE KM Training Lead.

All new SAW users are required to take SAW new user training as outlined here.

SAW 5.0 Enhancement Details

SAW V5.0 includes the following search improvements that will help users speed up searches to relevant content, improving solution time:
  • A single "search" page replaces "basic" and "advanced" search pages. This eliminates the need to switch back and forth between "basic" and "advanced" search and provides the same set of search filters that "advanced" search uses today. Users have found it more efficient to use “advanced search” with product and other filters selected in order to narrow down search results versus "basic search” which returns a very long list of results making it difficult to find the information required. This enhancement has been one of the most frequent requests from users.
  • "Profiling" enables customization of default search settings. A user will be able to set and save up to 10 search contexts (one or more filters on the search page including product context). This functionality allows users to save commonly used filters and product settings and then quickly access them while using SAW saving time. This feature has also been a popular request from SAW users.
Technology Services efficiency goals for FY08/09 include lowering problem resolution costs and increasing delivery efficiencies. In order to meet those goals, several projects were initiated including the SAW E5 Remote Resolve series of releases. SAW 5.0 is the first in this series of releases.
