Rockford Area Coin Club (RACC) has been in existence since 1956, when a group of coin collecting enthusiasts decided to form the Club. Now, over 50 years later, the club still enjoys strong support from its membership. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of membership by attending meetings and club functions. Or, just stop by for a visit.

More than forty Midwest coin dealers purchase table space from the club,
providing the bulk of the Club's operating revenue. Shows are one day events,
held from 9 AM to 4 PM on a Sunday in January and September at the
local Rockford Holiday Inn Convention Center on East State Street in Rockford

advertising, setup/tear-down, greeting the public attendees, and providing
security for participants. Anyone attending the free shows are encouraged to
buy, sell and trade items with the dealers. Raffles for gold coins, door
prizes, magazine give-aways and occasional displays of numismatic material are
offered. Typically, several hundred people attend each coin show. (see
Calendar)
Affiliations
RACC is a member in good standing in the American Numismatic Association and the Illinois Numismatic Association.
Attendance (Prize) Drawings/Numismatic (Prize) Quiz
At monthly meetings, members are eligible for a prize drawing simply for attending! Make sure you sign in at the door for your chance to win a cash prize equal to your annual membership dues.
A numismatic quiz is conducted at each monthly meeting with the member answering the most questions correctly receiving a numismatic prize, such as a mint set or proof set.
Show and Tell
Anyone may bring items to the meetings for show and tell. You never know what someone may bring. Just ask the Club members who were present when one of the five known 1913 Liberty Head nickels (recently valued at over $1 million) was passed around for inspection. Or, maybe an original Jefferson Peace Medal (valued over $50,000 and the subject of a recent Numismatic News front page article). You know, the Jefferson Peace Medal. The ones given by Lewis and Clark as peace offerings to the Indian Chiefs during their explorations of the West in the very early 1800's, and most recently the inspiration for the reverse of the 2004 “Peace” Jefferson nickel; That Jefferson Peace Medal!
Raffles
Be present at our meetings and be eligible to win numismatic prizes or tickets for gold coin give-aways during our semi-annual coin shows.
Annual Summer Picnic
Each year, usually the first Sunday in August, the Club hosts a picnic for its members and their families at Alpine Park Shelters. Bring the kids. Bring a dish to pass and your tableware. The Club provides the meat, drink, fun and games. Prizes are awarded to members and family. Bingo, kids games and hopefully lots of sunshine and camaraderie abound. (see Calendar)
Christmas Party
The club hosts a Christmas dinner each year, usually the 3rd Saturday in December, which is free for members and at cost for their family members. Held at the Lithuanian Club in south Rockford, Members must meet certain criteria for attendance and/or show participation to be eligible for the free meal, as stipulated in the Club By-Laws. (see Calendar)
