Bethesda Shoebox Appeal We would like to thank everyone who contributed a shoebox for the Bethesda Shoebox Appeal through Lionel School - 69 shoeboxes were donated altogether. These shoeboxes contained gifts for people in Eastern Europe, and should arrive in these countries in time for the festive season.
Pupil Council elections Pupil councillors for the session are: Martha Barrowman, Daniel Macdonald, Ian Macdonald, Meghan Boyd. Thanks to so many pupils for standing as candidates this year, and to Mr Macrae for volunteering to work with the Pupil Council.
HMIe Inspection of Lionel School We were very pleased to welcome members of HMIe to Lionel School on Monday 22 September 2008.
Sponsored Walk The annual Sponsored Walk to raise money for school funds took place this year on Tuesday 2 September, raising £1391 for school funds. There is a prize for the pupil who collects the most sponsorship money every session, to be presented at the annual School Prizegiving - sponsorship to beat so far is £110.
Lionel School Secondary Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar debated a paper which outlined options for strategic school closures, including the prospect of closing Lionel School Secondary department in 2011 or later, pending the completion of the new Nicolson Institute.
Staff appointments We would like to welcome Mr Ian Macrae as a permanent Primary teacher, Mrs Dorothy Macleod as a probationer Primary teacher, Mrs Careen Murray as supply Home Economics teacher, Mrs Muriel Mackenzie as a supply Learning Support teacher, and Mr Ian Maclennan as a supply Technical teacher, as they work at Lionel School this session. |
