Guidelines for book Report and product. 


Report: Complete a written report following the guidelines outlined below. 

Product: Create a diorama out of a box. 

 

              You must bring the book (or a copy of the front cover) that you will be reporting, otherwise your grade will be marked down.  The report must completed on time or your grade will be lowered each day it is late.

              In addition, the book that you will be reporting on needs to be a book that is on your reading log.  I will not accept any that are not on your log.

 

Book report # 1 – Diorama  Due date 11/3/09 (Tuesday)

 

Create a diorama out of a box.  You are to recreate a scene from the book inside a shoebox (you may use a container that is similar to a shoebox).  You are to create (cut, color, decorate, etc.) the scene.  Be sure to have a paragraph describing what is happening in the miniature scene.  The diorama needs to have a title and author’s name where people can clearly see it!  Be sure that your name is clearly written on the project.

Note: you should have a total of seven labeled paragraphs and a bibliography.

 

  1. Introduction

      3. Description of the setting

      4. Summary of the story’s main idea
        1. What the book is about.
  2. Characters 
    1. Include
      1. Names
      2. What they are like
        1. personality traits  and physical traits
  3. Conflict
    1. include whether it is
      1. individual vs individual   /  individual vs another power   /   individual vs him/herself
        1. Figure out which type of conflict exists in your story.
          1. Explain the conflict 
  4. Exposition (beginning) and rising action
    1. Include
      1. The beginning and the rising action
        1. Explain how the events are building up to the climax.
        2. This is where the reader learns who or what is involved.
  5. Climax
    1. Include
      1. This is where you write about the turning point in the story.
        1. That part of the story where things suddenly change.
        2. The climax of the suspense.
  6. Conclusion of the story
    1. Include
      1. Write about how the story is wrapped up during the falling action of the turning point.
        1. This is where the conflict (problem) gets resolved.
  7. Concluding paragraph
    1. Include
      1. Your personal evaluation of the story
        1. identify the weakness
        2. your own opinion
          1. Back up your opinions with examples from the book.
        3. recommendations
          1. would you recommend this book to someone? Why? 
  8. Bibliography
    1. Include
    2. Author. Title of book. City of publication: Publisher, year.
