Local Information from the INFORMS 2006 Organizing Committee

PLENARY PRESENTATIONS:   We now have a number of the plenary presentations available .  Thanks to the presenters for making this information available!

Pittsburgh is a wonderful town:  everyone on the Local Committee lives here and we all love it here.  But as a visitor, Pittsburgh is a bit more challenging than larger, more touristy cities.  There are relatively few guidebooks available, and those that exist are often out-of-date.  On the plus side, it is unlikely you will arrive at a restaurant and think "Oh no, there are only tourists here!".

These pages give some personal opinions from members of the organizing committee for the conference.  We hope you find them useful.  Enjoy Pittsburgh!

Don't forget that Tuesday is Election Day in the United States.  Don't let the OR voice go unheard:  be sure to get an absentee ballot!

One important hint.  If you are staying in the Westin, while it is attached to the convention center, past large conferences have shown the path to the convention center to be a bottleneck (an elevator is involved and it cannot meet capacity).  If you are going to the convention center at a peak time (just before sessions, for instance), it is much easier to exit the Westin via its front doors and walk around the building to the convention center.

Note that this page is a work in progress and will be updated by the committee up to (and through!) the conference.  For further information, you can also check out General Chair Michael Trick's blog entries on the conference .
