Mr. Wilkoff
Language Arts Conference Instructions
[If you or your parents/guardians are interested in a snapshot grade, please ask me during the conference. I will be happy to tell you how well you are meeting/exceeding the expectations of thinking, reading, and writing that are ever-present in your Language Arts class. However, I will not be printing out a grade report for you at this time. I do this because the main evidence for your content grade in this quarter (your Weekly Authentic pieces) has primarily been used for work habits grades so far. Next week you will be self-selecting your best Weekly Authentic piece, so that it may be graded according to the standards. Once this important piece of writing is graded, I will have enough evidence to accurately assess where you are at in your writing based upon what you believe is a perfect specimen. Please let me know if you have any questions about this policy.]
In your folder you should find the following:
1. Your reading metaphor. (Stays in your folder)
2. A copy of our Discovery Blogging Rules. (Goes home with your parents)
3. The instructions for introducing your parents to The Weekly Authentic (This sheet of paper can be thrown away when you are done with your SLC).
How to introduce your parents/guardians to your Weekly Authentic writing pieces:
1. Grab a laptop from one of the carts in my room.
2. Model the process of accessing my web page. (http://schools.dcsdk12.org/bhwilkoff or simply by following the links from the Cresthill website)
3. Pull up the Grazr Navigator (through the blog links) and show off your wonderfully authentic writing.
