Articles like Business Week’s “Blogs Will Change Your Business” say that blogging is something to take note of and that it is changing our world, both business and personal, as we know it, so what is the true definition and purpose of a blog?  Let’s begin by defining this new industry, this new communication tool, this new way of information sharing and gathering.  A blog is a web log.  The word log means a place where records are kept...a journal of some kind.  A web log or blog is basically an online journal that includes the written word, pictures and videos.  Blogs can be created by anyone for any purpose. Bloggers (people who write in their blogs or read other blogs and respond) fall into two basic categories:

  1. The first is a blogger who is an individual who wants an open forum to express his or her views.

  1. The second kind of blogger is a journalist or industry insider who wants to create forums for expressing their opinions without editorial constraint.

One of the most famous bloggers is Robert Scoble who is a Technical Evangelist for Microsoft and the creator of the scobelizer blog.  Through his blog, he reports on what goes on at Microsoft, and through his blog he keeps the press and other interested parties connected to the software giant.  Blogging allows Microsoft and other smart companies to not only keep the buzz going about their latest advancements, products or services, but they also have immediate access to their customers who communicate directly through the blogs (very big news for the corporate world).  Other good examples of successful company blogs come from General Motors Fast Lane blog (http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/) and the organic dairy producer Stonyfield Farm (http://www.stonyfield.com/weblog/).

Creative Concepts, LLC blogging expert Sabine Kirstein says, “Weblogs (blogs) represent a new way of augmenting your business presence on the internet.  They help you connect with customers, share your expertise and passion, and build your business by attracting the growing number of internet users to your website.  Blogs are a new type of website, built around small, frequent "conversations" with clients or customers, both current and prospective.  Search engines, such as Google, regularly search and index blogs, so, with a good blog strategy, your business will have a better chance of standing out from the already crowded internet landscape.”

Many large corporations are hiring full time bloggers because they understand how important the Web is as a public relations and marketing tool.  While the list is growing rapidly in the corporate world, there are still many small to medium sized companies who need help jumping into the blog pool.  Creative Concepts, LLC will help each customer test the waters with a support staff that can guide potential corporate bloggers every step of the way. Valorie Luther, Principal of Creative Concepts, LLC, says, “One way we can help our clients is by educating them and offering services that allow their business to stay ahead of the curve.  Aiding our clients through the blogging process and offering guidance for as long as they need it permits each business to explore the Web as a new avenue for attracting customers.”

Creative Concepts, LLC is a public relations and marketing firm dedicated to fulfilling the mission and long term strategies for each client through public relations and marketing solutions.
