PROJECT SIMULTANEITY
S01-05D06 by DANI TAGEN 2007 danitagen@gmail.com
The goal of the project is to correlate the world. It is meant to give instant identification with human lives everywhere in the globe. It also suggests momentary contemplation of everyday life and the understanding of the simultaneity acting freely in the world. Every man is indirectly bound to the rest of human population; by human actions, political events, tragedies – war and natural catastrophes, surpassing limits, scientific discoveries, technological advances, philosophical ideals...ultimately everything has an effect on us wherever we are. Usually we do not realise that because we live inside our own cities, our own neighbourhood, our close surroundings...as if we lived in a tiny country where we were the kings.
The last opportunity I had of showing it, was in Berlin at the New York Rio Tokyo Gallery (http://www.nyrt.net/wordpress/?p=100 ) in July 2006 when I was invited to do a site-specific work. The two works (S02-B0106 and S02-B0206) that I presented tried to show that time has always played tricks on us.
This time I am telling a visual story about something that has never happened and never will, with images I collected from volunteers. They are about the volunteers ordinary life, just shooting anything that they felt was interesting - it didn't matter what, where and the quality - but all of them were taken on the 5h December 2006. The photos were taken in very different parts of the world: UK, Italy, Australia... and I never took the pictures myself.
My goal is to emphasise our connection to the world. It's a visual story about everyone at the same time.
This is how the print would be presented:
