The Rev. Harlan Limpert is the UUA's Director for District Services, a position he’s held since July, 2004.  Before joining the UUA he worked for twenty years in corporate human resources at Target headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where his most recent position was director for human resources.

An active lay leader for twenty-five years, Harlan served two separate six-year terms on the Board of Trustees of his home congregation, the First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, four of those years as President.  He co-led a $2 million capital campaign, has been involved with twenty-eight annual fundraising efforts and countless committees and taskforces.

A graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry, Harlan was ordained in 1978 and served as a chaplain at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC for two years.  He then began his career at Target.

He considers himself the “luckiest guy in the world” for serving in a role that combines his business experiences with his congregational experiences into a position that supports the growth and vitality of congregations throughout the Association.  His passions include lay theological education, lay leadership development, congregational growth, technology’s role in growing our faith, and organization dynamics.
