STS9 Strikes the Stage Again

A sparkling, red cape rides the back of a man hopping in the parking lot next to the three-story venue. He screeches, “Show me the fire!” Bright smiles shine from a woman escorting her fuzzy, pink boa through the large entrance. The ticket guy grooves to the melodramatic melodies energized from the lively scene while the rest of the lot is surging with anticipation through the hoots and howls for the show to begin.

“Who’s got my miracle!” shouts a dread-headed lady prancing through the scene in search for her chance to enter into the sold out show. People spill into the venue, attracted like magnets. Fans travel far to witness their favorite band rock the stage.

Here comes Murph, the lead guitarist, one arm hugging his guitar and the other throwing back the last of his beer. The crowd roars as if a plane is about to take off. The gods come to the stage like fiery titans ready to jam to their deaths.

From the roots of Atlanta, Sound Tribe Sector 9 will feel the craze of their fans with their recent announcement of their Winter Tour 2008. The five-piece electronic jam band fuses instrumentals with electronic beats. Fans will be ready to grab their fix with Sound Tribe’s upcoming tour dates.

Winter Tour 2008 strikes its cord in the Pacific Northwest. Riding through the rolling waves of anticipation to San Francisco, STS9 will light the match at Club Six on Jan. 12. Hopping up to burn the Seattle scene at The Showbox, STS9 will play for two nights on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18. STS9 and the fans will bounce back to Portland for another two-night jam session at Roseland Theater Jan. 19 and Jan. 20. Special guests will include a list of new and old talents, including Rahzel, The Pharcyde, Sub-ID, Lotus and Ana Sia.

With the excitement hovering in the hearts of all the fans, STS9 looks forward to playing with new artists in their favorite venues.

“Sound Tribe is going to be sick, and Sub-ID is supposedly creating a new electronic following with his new beats,” said Nick Arnold, events coordinator. “I think this tour is going to be wildly interesting with all the new talent.”

Kailyn Knight studies public relations and business at the University of Oregon.
