School and Workshop on Aspects of Moduli (June 15-28, 2008, Pisa)

June 15-28, 2008 at the De Giorgi Center at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy

Scuola Normale

Organizing committee: Dan Abramovich (Brown), Davesh Maulik (Clay), Ravi Vakil (Stanford), and Angelo Vistoli (Pisa). Ex Officio: David Ellwood (CMI).

Moduli theory is one of the central parts of algebraic geometry. The past fifteen years have witnessed an explosion of activity in this area. This activity is meant to offer a wide view of many aspects of the field. The program consists of a workshop and conference to be held June 15-28 at the De Giorgi Center at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy.

The first week consisted of a summer school, aimed at advanced PhD students and beginning researchers, featuring lecture courses by Valery Alexeev, Kai Behrend, Tom Bridgeland, Alessio Corti, and Martin Olsson. During the second week, a conference on recent advances took place.

Belltower Summer school lectures:

Valery Alexeev (Georgia): Moduli of higher-dimensional varieties

Kai Behrend (UBC): Foundations of Donaldson-Thomas theory
Tom Bridgeland (Sheffield): Stability in triangulated categories
Alessio Corti (Imperial): New methods in orbifold Gromov-Witten theory
Martin Olsson (Berkeley): Logarithmic structures with a view towards moduli.

Here are notes taken by Anton Geraschenko, including for the problem session in the second week.  Thank you Anton!
