Cragganmore

Geschichte

John Smith gründete die Cragganmore Distillery 1869. Gehört heute zu United Distillers & Vintners (Diageo).
Als erste Destillerie an einer Bahnlinie gebaut: Strathspey railway.
John Smith selbst wog 140kg und mußte in Güterwaggons mitfahren, da er nicht in Personenwagen paßte!

Speyside. Near Cragganmore Hill, Ballindalloch.
Craggan Mor ist der Name des Berges hinter der Destillerie.
Liegt etwa 1/3 auf der Luftlinie zwischen Inverness und Aberdeen. An der A95, Nähe Bridge of Avon.

Whisky

Zusammen mit fünf anderen Whiskys von United Distillers als "Classic Malt" promoted.

Colour: Golden.
Nose: The most complex aroma of any malt. Its bouquet is astonishingly fragrant and delicate, with sweetish notes of cut grass and herbs (thyme perhaps?).
Body: Light to medium, but very firm and smooth.
Palate: Delicate, clean, restrained, with a huge range of herbal flowery notes.
Finish: Long.
Score: 90.

Doc-T: Schöne Farbe (wahrscheinlich gefärbt), angenehm komplex, leichte Süße, vollmundig, aber nicht zu scharf, langer Abgang. Sehr aufregend!
