UB ALA Meeting Minutes, February 2, 2009

  1. Welcome, introductions and call to order.


  1. Join ALA/NYLA. The joint student membership is only $35. Download the membership form from http://www.nyla.org/index.php?page_id=89

    1. It was mentioned that the form to sign-up is on the UB ALA blog


  1. Join ALA’s listserv: Visit https://listserv.buffalo.edu/user/sub.shtml and enter ub-ala-list@listserv.buffalo.edu as the name of the listserv you want to join.

    1. Join the listserv if you have not already in order to receive information from UB ALA

  2. Meeting minutes from Jan. 27, 2009 meeting were approved.


  1. Treasurer’s Report. Bake Sale Wed., Feb. 11th – Sign up to bring a baked good or to man the table that day.

    1. Currently there is about $400 dollars in the account (minus the funds spent for pizza)


  1. Get Shelved t-shirts still available for $10 each (See Elaine). Contest for tote bag designs.

    1. T-shirts are still available and you can contact Elaine to purchase one

    2. The contest will now be for designing a tote bag image, rather than doing t-shirt design

      1. One entry has been received so far

    3. Once more details have been discussed, as far as purchasing the tote bags, the contest will be publicized.


  1. Give a Book Take a Book Shelf in Lounge Update

    1. Currently the student lounge is open, but we do not yet have a bookshelf set up for the give a book take a book program.


  1. Updating the website and blog. Technical problems with UB’s server. Visit our blog at http://www.ubstudentala.wordpress.com

        1. Career Services has an advisor that deals specifically with LIS students, Lauren Johnson. She is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12pm-1pm.
