Meeting minutes from Jan. 27, 2009 meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s
Report. Bake Sale Wed., Feb. 11th – Sign up to
bring a baked good or to man the table that day.
Currently there is about $400 dollars in the account (minus the funds spent for pizza)
Get
Shelved t-shirts still available for $10 each (See Elaine). Contest
for tote bag designs.
T-shirts are still available and you can contact Elaine to purchase one
The contest will now be for designing a tote bag image, rather than doing t-shirt design
One entry has been received so far
Once more details have been discussed, as far as purchasing the tote bags, the contest will be publicized.
Give
a Book Take a Book Shelf in Lounge Update
Currently the student lounge is open, but we do not yet have a bookshelf set up for the give a book take a book program.
Updating
the website and blog. Technical problems with UB’s server.

Professional Development
Career Services has an advisor that deals specifically with LIS students, Lauren Johnson. She is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12pm-1pm.
Events and Goals for the Semester:

Alumni Panel: Advocacy? Networking? Other suggestions for topics?
Wine and Cheese Soiree: February, 27th at Anna’s apartment. Email ubstudentala@gmail.com if interested in attending.
The soiree will be limited to 20 people due to space
Serves as a professional development events because topics in librarianship are discussed.

Library Lobby Day? (During Spring Break)

Similar to HIRE conference but gear towards fields in Librarianship

Community Service
Relay for Life – Librarians for Life – Team Captain(s)? Sign up at http://www.relayforlife.org/universityatbuffalo
The team can be no larger than 15 people
The event will be from 4pm-6am March 21-22 at the Alumni Arena
The cost to participate is $10
Rochester Teen Book Festival Sign Up
4th annual Teen Book Festival
The date for the festival is April 4th
In order to volunteer you must participate in a meeting taking place
Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and breakfast with the authors
Positions included; Set-up crew, clean-up crew, greeter, evaluation table, and floaters
You must fill out a registration form to participate. It will be posted to the blog

Possibility of doing a car pool
Fundraisers
Bake Sale, 9am-4pm in the Baldy Lobby
Bake goods needed, they should be individually wrapped. A box will be put in the Baldy computer lab (cataloging room) for goods baked before the event
Table assistance and set up is also needed
Request put out for someone to create a poster for the table
Possibility of having balloons at the table
Graduation Brunch? Committee Sign Up
Celebration for the department as a whole, students and faculty
Possibility of collaboration with other LIS student groups
Picnic/ Barbeque suggested as venue (burgers and hot dogs)
Possible dates the weekend before finals
