1. Welcome and call to order

2. Join ALA/NYLA. The joint student membership is only $35. Download the membership form from http://www.nyla.org/index.php?page_id=89

   1. Mention that information can also be found on the UB ALA blog (http://www.ubstudentala.wordpress.com)

3. Treasurer’s Report given by Elaine Dean

   1. Currently we have $428.49 in funds

   2. Introducted of Bake Sale taking place February 11, 2009 (just in time for the holiday)

   3. Possibly have a conversation hearts theme

4. Get Shelved t-shirts still available for $10 each (See Elaine). Contest for new t-shirt design.

   1. Current sizes left range between small-4XL

   2. Introduction of t-shirt design contest. UB ALA is looking for a new t-shirt design. Information regarding submissions will be posted around the building as well as on the blog.

5. Give a Book Take a Book Shelf in Lounge Update

   1. This project, which started last semester, will be housed in the student lounge. Recently the lounge has been closed.

6. Updating the website and blog. Technical problems with UB’s server. Visit our blog at http://www.ubstudentala.wordpress.com

   1. Due to technical problems with web administration it has been decided that the blog will serve as the UB ALA website

   2. Information will be migrated from the former site to the blog

   3. This change will make it easier to pass rights to future administrators

7. Events and Goals for the Semester:

• Professional Development

• Alumni Panel: Advocacy? Other suggestions for topics?

  • You can post your suggestions on the blog

• Wine and Cheese Soiree

  • Possible dates for the event are February 20 or the 27

  • Everyone adds to the topics of conversation at this event, focusing on issues pertaining to librarianship

• Advocacy

  • Library Lobby Day? (During Spring Break)

• Community Service

• Relay for Life – Librarians for Life – Team Captain(s)?

  • The event will take place from 4pm-6am March 21-22

  • The team captain position is open people would like to volunteer

  • Team captain meetings are Tuesdays (either weekly or bi-weekly) at 5:30 pm

  • If you are interested in joining the team collection envelope are available. The cost is $10.

• Rochester Teen Book Festival Sign Up

  • This event will be held April 4^th. A pre-meeting for the event will be held on March 30th

• Fundraisers

• Bake Sale sign up

  • Bake goods need to be wrapped individually for the sale

• Graduation Brunch? Committee Sign Up

  • If possible this event would be held in coordination with the other DLIS student groups

  • Possibly a brunch event

  • Volunteer sign up will be available a next meeting

8. Next Meeting: Mondays or Tuesdays?

   1. Which date would be best for meetings?

   2. There are classes Tuesday afternoon
