My Review Policy

This Book and I Could Be Friends
was founded in September 2008 by a recent college grad who likes to think of herself as one of those intellectual types. Although it is a purely amateur endeavor, I do take my blogging very seriously and am always willing to hear feedback. I accept ARC's from publishers and will also accept self-published books. I promise to write a thorough and honest review. The review will also likely appear on Amazon and LibraryThing, possibly edited for space and content. I do not sell ARC's.

I am especially interested in translated fiction and international literature in general, which I plan on making the main focus of my blog. If you have anything to offer, do not hesitate to contact me! One of my long-term goals is to increase awareness of international literature in the English-speaking blogosphere and beyond. I long to get going!

I love American history. I am also open to any non-fiction work dealing with the arts and humanities, even if I am not an expert in the particular field. My favorite time period in terms of art, literature, society, and overall culture is the Modernist era (roughly the 1890s through the 1930s) and I would love to learn more about it.

In terms of fiction, I am pretty open-minded and am currently trying to read more speculative fiction and graphic novels. Genres that do not interest me include "chick lit," romance, children's books, Westerns, military fiction, Christian/inspirational fiction, anything sports-related, and current events/political stuff.

As of November 2009, This Book and I Could Be Friends is receiving an average of about 50 hits a day (according to StatCounter ).
