RAQG Minutes May 9, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7 pm by president Sherri Enke. This is her last meeting as president as next month new officers assume their roles.
Birthdays included
Alice Muscanero, Linda Kirby, Ruth Ann Gundrum, and Lynne Butler.
We wish you all a great year.
Sherri summarized the activities of the guild over this past year. We all agreed that it has been a year of growth, learning and skills development, and we had fun in the process.
Round robin, initiated and coordinated by Deb Lambert, is coming to a close.
Deb Ekes has started a blog site for us at www.reedsburgareaquiltguild.blogspot.com
Click on follower, and follow instructions so that you can keep up with activities and announcements. You can post your picture, pictures of your quilts. We are encouraged to submit comments regarding how sherry’s presidency has influenced each of us. Deb prescreens all entries so that inappropriate entries can be weeded out.
Elections were held. And the following are the results:
President: Kelly Kroon
Vice President Elect: Kris Scharfenburg
Tres: June Behnke
Secretary: Donna Weiderquist
Were unanimously elected. We thank them for their willingness to serve.
Please make sure you have your dues paid for this next year, due June 1.
Dues are not pro-rated.
Sherry told us that she gets requests for quilts to be donated for various needs, so if you have quilts you no longer want/need feel free to bring them, they do not have to be new. Bring it to guild meeting.
Pillowcases for children with cancer:
Con Kerr Cancer Project: Another guild brought in 60 pillowcases. Linda challenges us to get with the program and bring some in. The kids love them!!
Racine quilt show is in October. More info is available on our blogspot.
Sherry Enke has designed quilt standards. She will build 60 of them for $350. This will eliminate multiple trips on the day we set up the show as we will have a full complement of standards of our own which are stored in one place ( nearby!) what a concept.
Linda Kirby presented the "ugly" fabric. To enter into the Airing of the Quilts, the ugly fabric projects need to be at QQ by July 17th, You will get rules when you buy the half yard.
Airing of the quilts is July 18th. Please come, it’s such a delight.
Linda presented info about the bus trip to Duluth, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, June 10,11, and 12th.
We talked about the quilt we will make for Sherri to honor her for her leadership.
She has chosen Birdhouses as a theme. We will each make a 6 ½" block ( 6"finished)
Sherri will choose the background fabric which we will receive next meeting.
We can each make a birdhouse in a style we choose that reflects a little bit about our selves. A bird can be a feature of your birdhouse block if you want.
We look forward to June meeting; Kelly Kroon will chair it as incoming president.
Respectfully submitted at the 11th hour
Jane Weiss
