Social Development Program - Eight Agreements

We believe in a holistic approach to community development and ask that team members agree to observe the Eight Agreements for Personal and Social Development. I also follow the same agreements in my life. The Eight Agreements are to recognize our fundamental connection in heart and spirit, and to operate on trust and respect for the individual, community and natural environment. The Eight Agreements are:

  1. We live simply, minimizing what we buy, and make sure that our living environment is the best possible for our body, mind and spirit. We will maintain a clean house and a healthy atmosphere.

  1. We attend the regular meetings of our team and become educated about important topics in our community. We will always be ready to help one another. If anyone is having difficulty, we will all come together to help to resolve the issue at hand.

  1. We have a basic respect for the ITF-Village Integral Fund services and we will only use our microcredit shares for legitimate business purposes and to create savings. Shares are not consumer loans. We conduct business with respect for our customers and ourselves.

  1. We maintain a peaceful attitude so as to be careful not to inflict any injustice on anyone. We will not submit to injustice inflicted on us, nor will we participate with others who are acting unjustly to someone else.

  1. We exercise intelligence about the size of our families so that we are able to provide the care necessary for our children. We will educate our children to grow up to live healthy and happy lives.

  1. We grow small gardens and support local farmers, especially farmers using natural growing techniques. In this way we will eat healthy food and drink clean water.

  1. We maintain good health through exercise, hygiene and pleasant appearance for our physical well-being.

  1. We are deeply aware of the natural environment, and we work to protect and to live in harmony with nature.
