Sally Chamberlain
Occupation: Student Age: 19 Institution: RVC
Gender: Female

Sally is in her first year at the RVC studying BVet Med in Camden. This is
her first experience of living away from home, leaving behind her
family and farm lifestyle in Devon.

Sally has always known she wanted to be a Vet, and ensured she made the
grades to fulfil her aspirations. She worked hard in class, contributed
to all the debates in the classroom and participated in most of the
after school activities. She has a thirst for knowledge and is like a
sponge soaking up new information all around her, so she is always
reading about new things in books or on the web. She is a regular user
of the web, using the search engine sites, occasionally reading the
library journals and Wikis. At uni she regularly uses the VLE and
listens to the RVC lecture podcasts. Socially she uses MSN Messenger
and Facebook, checking Facebook and emails at least twice a day. She
has heard of other tools such as Second Life, RSS Readers and
discussion boards but doesn't really use them, as she hasn't got the
time or the interest to pursue them further.

Sally uses computers for the basic things; MS Office applicatons, email,
searching the web and Facebook, and seems to enjoy using the computer
for her basic computer needs. She's interested in innovative
technology, such as new applications on Facebook, smiley emoticons on
MSN and new stuff on the VLE, but other than that she doesn't pick up
any new technology unless it is a requirement for her course or it
emerges as a 'cool' tool amongst her friends.
