Gunman opens fire at Youth With A Mission training center near Denver…
Gunman opens fire at Colorado Springs Church
The first shooting was sad to hear about. The wonderings, the questions, the whys? Seven hours later we hear about a second shooting-this time only 10 miles away. A little more concerns this time; all we knew was that there was a gunman targeting Christian organizations in our area. The police visit, they check the building. Still, there are questions, WHY? It seems a lot easier to go through difficulties and hardships when we know why. But, guess what? Sometimes we don’t get to know why. Sometimes God is calling us into faith. God is not always safe, but He is always faithful.
FAITH: complete confidence, trust, as to have faith in one’s leader
We are on a journey of faith right now. Luckily, we know the general why. We feel God has called us to be His servants to train, equip, encourage, nourish, feed, and love on the national pastors (and pastors-to-be) of south-central Africa. Just typing that is a big sentence for even us to digest. What exactly will that look like? For us it will be focused on physically feeding them as others spiritually nourish them in their school/training. There are still questions of why us? Maybe only because we are willing? We aren't sure we feel we are the most equipped for this, but we know we are APPROVED. And those whom God calls, He equips. Our three weeks of training in Colorado helped equip us for the transition of life to Zambia, our fellowship with other missionaries affirmed our call, and our God has approved us.
PRAISE & PRAYER:
-Awesome three weeks of training in Colorado-fellowshipping with other missionaries with similar stories and callings
-praise for a lot near our home to keep our container at until it is ready to go
-a solar company that is working with us to help us figure out what we need
-safety and enjoyment during the holiday season
-time and discipline to do our training at home
-sorting, shopping, packing for the sea container
-God’s people to commit to prayer and financial support for us-we will be focusing on support raising more. Pray for contacts, opportunities to share with churches, groups, and individuals
Question/Answer
More answers to your questions!
In trying to come up with a pithy little title, I searched out the definitions for question and answer. Words like discussion, inquiry, interrogate, & investigate were parts of “question”. Answer was pretty easy, “a reply”.
We pray that you will feel free to ask us questions at any time! If you are wondering it, someone else probably is too! We are trying to be as open of books as we can be to have a discussion with you, answer your inquires and interrogations (that’s not a bad word!) and investigation of us and our work. We welcome it!
So will you be living in a mud hut?
NO! We will have the standard cement block house (that’s plastered) with a steel roof. There is no house for us right now. Brian will be heading over sometime in the spring to start the building process. While we will get some building supplies there, we will be looking to send sinks, toilets, steel for the roof, and some electric things over on the container.
Will you have electricity and running water?
Yes, and yes. The bible school has a new well, which is near where our home will be. We will have the best water pressure out of everyone! We will have a generator for electricity and are looking into solar power.
How long will you be there?
Right now we do not have a timeline set in years. We feel we are being called there to do a specific mission, training national pastors in agriculture, and we will be there until God calls the next person after us. Once we have helped get the college established, once Brian has trained in a national (preferably) who will be able to train in others, work the machinery, etc. then we will move on to where God has us next. We have learned in our faith walk that often what God has called us to do is only another step. We are planning for years; we will leave when God leads us out.
Are you working somewhere right now?
Right now we are doing our training part time, running a house of 6 kids and home schooling fulltime, preparing our house to be sold part time, and working part time odd jobs including relief milking or whatever comes our way. I am sure you all know what I am talking about!! We feel God blessed our farm in the last few years so that right now we are able to live on that profit. Brian has sold the last of his cattle and his milking equipment. We are very committed to this work and getting to Zambia. We do plan to sell our vehicles to help purchase a vehicle over there, the sale of our house will pay for building supplies for a house in Zambia, we are buying many supplies and items that we will bring over there, we are buying farm equipment, we will strip down our house as much as we can to send in the sea container. When it is time to leave Zambia, we may be able to sell the vehicle, but the house will be left there. We don’t say that to “toot our own horn”; we simply say it to ensure you that yes we are serious, yes we are committed, and yes we are investing in this ourselves. We are doing our best to not need to take any support until it is absolutely needed. Any support that we don’t use monthly stays in our account to use, once we get to Zambia. 100% of what you give to Gospelink goes directly to us to use where we need it.
I wish we had more room! The next issue will feature questions specific to our budget needs and how we are praying that God will use His people to fulfill them.
