From the syllabus:

 Assignment 3 (Course Objective 4):10%

Each team will look at content delivery systems and discuss the features, usability, requirements and price. This comparison can be done with reviews, product websites or product demonstrations. Teams will create a report describing their systems and selecting a favored system. Reports should be presented to class with an executive summary for each class participant. Please fully cite all resources used.

  

Individually, set aside some time to look at CMS systems. Then as a group select one to look at and report on during class 6, February 14th.

For that class please prepare a short written report on a CMS (Content Management System). Be prepared to present this report in class and provide a one page summary for the rest of the class.

Spend a little time reviewing some of the material on this site and make sure that you have an understanding of what CMS systems do and why they represent a growing segment of the websites in use today in schools and other organizations that need to change content easily and with simple web-based tools.


When you get to this site, look on the left side of the screen for the CMS Demos Menu. Find the Portals (CMS) folder and open it with the little plus sign to the left of the folder.


Take some time to look at some CMS packages. Try a several out and finally, spend some time getting to know one of them.
