Essay 3


This is a comparison and contrast essay. You will compare and/or contrast the Wikipedia article about your high school with another Wikipedia article about another high school (search the internet and print it out). How are they similar? How are they different? Do they cover the same information? Does one cover something important that the other doesn’t? Do they have different angles or biases? Is one more insightful than the other? Is one designed and organized better? Is one more recently updated? Does one have pictures and graphics?


A key to all essays, particularly a comparison/contrast essay, is organization. Give careful thought to how you organize your main points and supporting details. Chapter 13 in the Langan text (pp 265-284) may be helpful to you.


For guidance on how to begin and end your essay, Chapters 5 and 7 in the Clouse text are helpful.


This essay needs to be at least 750 words (about three double-spaced pages) and no more than 900 words). It is worth 12 points which is 12% of your overall grade.
