Team Captain MEETING Wednesday, April 1, 2009 (9:00 pm)
145 team captains signed in, 140 teams represented, 50 committee members present
What YOU can do the Make a $ CHANGE $
As TCs walk in, they sign in and receive their gift bags which include:
-An RFL drawstring backpack filled with:
-RFL luggage tags
-Make A Change Envelopes (TCs are supposed to go home & fill them with change and bring them back to the next TC meeting, Wed. 4/15) are filled with:
-Burned CDs: songs with the theme of change/money
-Candy! Chocolate coins!
-Important Handouts!!!!!!!
THE AGENDA:
-Introduction Jenny Donley (event Co-Chair) introduces the meeting
-With only 17 days until Relay, it’s time for you as TCs to help us Make a Change (MAC) in the fight against cancer
-Without your help in these last few days, we won’t meet our goal of $500,000 and we won’t be able to defend our title as the #1 Relay!
-Tonight is all about what YOU can do to help us get there!
-Handout #1: “What YOU can do to Make a Change!”
-A list of tons of specific things you and your team can do to raise money and help out
- Handout #2: “15 Days ‘Til Relay: Team Captains!”
-A schedule of the 15 days leading up to Relay and what you should be doing on those days to help us reach our goals!
-Mission Andrea Bommarito and Andrew Malzberg, Co-Chairs of the Mission Committee speak about their “Many Faces of Hope” campaign
- Handout #3: “Many Faces of Hope”
-On this handout, Team Captains write why they Relay, and hand it in at the end of the meeting. The Mission Committee will be making a cancer advocacy project out of this!
-Luminaria Suzanne Joyce and Sheila Reynolds, Co-Chairs of Luminaria
-Wall of Hope banners – if you have a donor that has donated $500 or more to you or your team, they can fill out the form on our website (under “Forms”) to get a 10 ft. banner printed with anything they want (aka: “In Loving Memory of __”)
-Hand out stickers for Luminaria bags to TC’s to sell to their friends and family
-You let people write “In honor/support/memory of _____” on large stickers to be put on the luminaria bags at the event for $10
- Handout #4: Easter Luminaria Challenge
-Go home over Easter and get relatives to buy Lum bags with this form!!!

-EASTER = OPPORTUNITY!
-Sell Lum bags to your relatives
-Tell your relatives about Relay and get them to donate
-Sit down now that you have spare time without classes and send out your EMAILS!!!!
-Food Court Liz Tobia (2008 Co-Chair)
- Handout #5: “Food Court” – We will be having a Food Court at the event
-Sign up with your team to sell some kind of food that you cook or bake at the event! The proceeds go towards your team total
-We will be selling tickets, and tickets can buy food

- Handout #6: “Carnival” – This year we will be having carnival games with prizes (think…shoot the target with the water gun and win a stuffed animal!)
-Sign up to man one of these booths for an hour or two and the money made will go toward your team totals!!

-Concert to be held Thursday April 16, 2009 at 8PM, McNeir Auditorium
-Catholic Student Association is selling rootbeer floats
-Hoya Blue is raffling off cupcakes
-THE NEXT/FINAL TC MEETING Collette Laflamme (Logistics Co-Chair)
-Meeting to be held Wednesday, 4/15 at 9:00 pm in White Gravenor 201A
-It is MANDATORY, as you will be doing the following:
-getting your team’s t-shirts
-signing up for a campsite
-ordering pizza for the night of
-getting last minute important Relay info!!!!
-Concluding Remarks WE ARE IN THIRD PLACE IN THE NATION RIGHT NOW!!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO STEP IT UP TO MAKE THIS CHANGE! MAKE A CHANGE WITH US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER! HELP US RAISE $500,000!!! SEND EMAILS!! GET EXCITED!!! TALK TO YOUR TEAM!! FUNDRAISE OVER EASTER! GET MONEY. GET SERIOUS. GET IT.
