    1. Members signed a card for a fellow SLU student who recently lost her father

    2. We received posters from Students for Life of America about the nine months of pregnancy

    3. A postcard from SFL members Kevin Grillot and Caitlin Boyce who are studying abroad in Ireland was passed around

  1. Old Business

    1. Newslink Article………………………………………………...Sarah Pingel

      1. An article about SFL’s national recognition in D.C. is on Newslink, which students can see by logging on to Gateway at gateway.slu.edu

      2. We’ve had good feedback from the article, showing support for SFL and everything we do


  1. New Business

    1. Dr. Alveda King Event…………………………………………Sarah Pingel

      1. Next Tuesday, Feb 24th, 7-9pm, BSC St. Louis Room

      2. Sponsored by SFL, Great Issues Committee, and the Philosophy and Theology Departments

      3. All SFL members are highly encouraged to come and bring friends! Our presence at this event is very important!

      4. Many members of the surrounding community will be there; it will be a great opportunity to increase awareness of our group and show our commitment to dialogue

      5. Tuesday, Feb 24th from 11am-1pm during the day, we will have a table in the BSC to remind students of the event that evening

      6. Volunteers are needed to welcome community members and show them to the St. Louis Room before the event; meet at 6pm in the St. Louis Room and spread out around the BSC

      7. At the event, the PPSA Fund will have an announcement that you will not want to miss!

    2. PPSA Presentation……..………………………....................Mary Cooper

      1. Mary updated the group on the Pregnant and Parenting Student Assistance Fund

      2. No longer called a “Scholarship,” “Assistance fund” more accurately reflects the program

      3. Goal is to endow the fund at $25,000; then at least $1000 may be given per year from the interest and additional donations

      4. No student should have to choose between having his/her child and having an education

      5. The fund will encourage pregnant/parenting students to remain part of the SLU community, where they may receive needed support and resources

    3. Heartbeat” Writers Needed………………………………..Katrina Becker

      1. Katrina recruited volunteers to write for the March issue of the “Heartbeat” newsletter

      1. Buffet Service for Presidential Scholars Weekend next Saturday, Feb 21st in the BSC: need 3 more volunteers

      2. Blues Festival Friday, Feb 27th at Chaifetz: need 1 more volunteer

      1. SFL will put on a Baby Shower for the women of Our Lady’s Inn

      2. Need to form a committee to organize the shower

      1. Early registration for the Run closes 3 weeks from Thursday!

      3. There will be live music, food, and your name will be entered in a raffle when you register

    10. Baby shower for student at SLU…………………………Kathleen Neuner

      1. SFL will be hosting the shower after spring break

      2. We will be donating items for the shower: diapers, wipes, baby girl clothes, toys, etc

      3. Pick up things to donate over spring break

      3. Candidates will work for 3 weeks in each of the following offices: Students for Life of America, Feminists for Life of America, and pro-life Congressional office on Capitol Hill

Some may argue that a woman has a right to chose what she does with her body. She does, but where is the lawyer for the baby, who is like a helpless slave in the womb of his/her mother?
