The official Guitar and (soon)Bass tab,
straight from Patrik Phalen and Matt Hughes
Keep in mind that I always play my Guitar detuned one whole step: DGCFAD. Hughes tunes his Bass to DGDG. I play the song almost entirely in chords, but it also works well and is a little easier if you take the root notes and play the song as riffs. This works well if you want to arrange it for two Guitars that play the whole time. On record, there are only two Guitar tracks at: the end of the descending riff, the beginning of the break in the middle without drums, and there's some minor “texture” being added by a second Guitar during the “solo”. It sounds like there might be some acoustic guitar being strummed during the break, but really I just let my electric string plucking bleed into the mic. And regarding my style, I don't always strum the full chords; I do a lot of quick arpeggios as well as striking just two or three notes of a five or six note chord; it gets buried under the distortion, but if you want to get the right texture to the chord progressions, that's what you should pay attention to.
As should be obvious by the recording quality, I do not double-track guitar parts “Smashing Pumpkins-style” for thickness, so it's not hard at all to recreate this song live. On the recording, for both tracks I used an 80s Japanese Stratocaster, bridge pickup, and TurboRat through a Bass practice amp. Mic'd with a Shure SM57, *just* off the grill, 45 degree angle offset. Hughes played his 80s non-reverse T-Bird Bass with a pick through a Big Muff and a Sansamp straight into the board.

Guitar Part 1
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F: -9---9---9-9---9---9-9-xx10--7-------------------------------------------------
C: -9---9---9-9---9---9-9-xx10--7-------------------------------------------------
G: -7---7---7-7---7---7-7-xx8---5-------------------------------------------------
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the second repetition, the last two chords' positions are reversed (low to high, rather than high to low) and on the fourth rep, the D# is held, instead of moving to the C. The xx's represent suggested quick triplet strums, you can put them wherever you want.

Guitar Part 2
D: ----------------(3)---------(3)------------------------------------------------
A: --------------------(3)------3-------------------------------------------------
F: ---------5-------5---5-5-3---3h5-----------------------------------------------
C: ---------5-------5---5-5-3h5---------------------------------------------------
G: -3~------3-------3---3-3-------------------------------------------------------
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's one example repetition, It's not exactly set in stone how I play the licks at the end of each repeat (the first half remains pretty much the same). The important thing to remember is that when you play the little licks at the end of each rep, each note should ring out. What I mean is that you should be creating a barre with your index finger on the third fret and playing the other notes by hammering down with your ring/pinky finger. Those (5)'s are ghost notes (I'm not sure what to actually call them), and by that I mean they are often struck incidentally because of the barre'd fret and big strumming. Don't worry about hitting them on purpose, let it accidentally happen. There's a trick to the timing (rest on the downbeat/strike on the upbeat of the second and the third reps), but it shouldn't be hard to pick up on.

Guitar Part 3
Here's the four chords, strum them repeatedly, you can figure out the timing, it's a simple 4 whole note progression
D: --------------0-------5-------8------------------------------------------------
A: --------------0-------5-------8------------------------------------------------
F: ------7-------7-------7-------7------------------------------------------------
C: ------7-------7-------7-------7------------------------------------------------
G: ------5-------5-------5-------5------------------------------------------------
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guitar Part 4
D: --------------------------------------------------------------------|----------
A: --------------------------------------------------------------------|----------
F: ---------9---9-7---7------------------------------------------------|----------
C: -2-----2-9---9-7---7-------5/7-5-----5---5-8---8-7---7-5------------|-2--------
G: -2---2-2/7---7-5---5-0---0-3/5-3p0---5---5/8---8-7---7-5------------|-2- x4 ---
D: -0---0-0-----------------------------3---3/6---6-5---5-3---3-5-3-1~-|-0--------
This is the tricky riff. It is somewhat out of time, i.e. it does not evenly fit the “measure” of the rest of the song. It's not that hard to grasp, just something to be aware of. The 022 x4 is four quick Dminor stabs that only appear once in the song.
Halfway through this riff, a second Guitar track--the rhythm of which I'm sure you can deduce--appears playing:
D: --------
A: ---8~~--
F: --------
C: --------
G: --------
D: --------

Guitar "Solo"
Just pick a single note fast as you can from the D pentatonic scale, on the G string starting anywhere high above the 12th fret and work your way down the string towards the 9th fret.

Guitar Part 5
D: ------------(0)----------------------------------------------------------------
A: ----(0)-----(0)----------------------------------------------------------------
F: ----------------------------/7-------------------------------------------------
C: -----2-------2-------2-xx3--/7-------------------------------------------------
G: -----2-------2-------2-xx3--/5-------------------------------------------------
D: -0---0---0-0-0-0---0-0-xx1-----------------------------------------------------
The low Ds here should be palm-muted. The xx's represent that you should lead into that low D# with a quick triplet strum. This is repeated three times and then one time this is played:
D: ----(0-0-0-0)------------------------------------------------------------------
A: ----(0-0-0-0)------------------------------------------------------------------
F: -------0-------5---5-5-5/7--7-7------------------------------------------------
C: -2---2-2-2-2---5---5-5-5/7--7-7------------------------------------------------
G: -2---2-2-2-2-0-3---3-3-3/5--5-5------------------------------------------------
D: -0---0-0-0-0-0-----------------------------------------------------------------
This is immediately followed by Guitar Part 4 (the tricky one) played one time, the Bass will continue playing Part 4, while the guitar will strum furiously and build through these three chords with lots of vibrato and bending them somewhat slightly:

Guitar Part 6
D: ---0------0-----0---
A: ----------8~~---10~-
F: ---9~~----9~~---9~~-
C: --------------------
G: ---7~~----7~~---7~~-
D: --------------------
This is where the odd timing of Part 4 will become very apparent (the Bass repeats it twice while the guitar plays this), just try to work it out. The 7--9-10-0 chord is used to fill up the extra space required to fill the measure. This collides into a slow random arpeggio, plucked as brokenly as possible, of this Dminor:
D: ---0----
A: ---0----
F: ---0----
C: ---2----
G: ---2----
D: ---0----
Along with this chord arpeggio a second Guitar track appears randomly playing notes from the Dminor scale between the 7th and 12th frets, ending on a G at the 12th fret. This is followed by...

Guitar Part 7
D: ---------0---------------------------------------------------------------------
A: ---------0---------------------------------------------------------------------
F: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C: -2-------2---xx4---4-4/5-5-5-5-------------------------------------------------
G: -2-------2---xx4---4-4/5-5-5-5-------------------------------------------------
D: -0-------0---xx2---2-2/3-3-3-3-------------------------------------------------
Repeated four times.

Guitar Part 8
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C: -2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2x2-2-2-2x2-2-2-2-----------------------------------------------
G: -2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2---------------------------------------------------------------
D: -0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0x2-2-2-2x3-3-3-3-----------------------------------------------
Palm-muted all the way through, crowd the strumming more and more as you repeat three times then play this:
D: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C: -4444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444--------------
G: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D: -5555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555--------------
Furious strumming, try to keep the palm-mute down for this as well, you'll probably hit a lot of ghost notes, which is good. Oh yeah, that is correct what you see there, this chord is strummed for an extra "fifth measure" before moving on to the next part.
After the extra measure, the Guitar will play a big open Dminor chord, let it ring while the Bass plays Part 4 once by itself. Then the Guitar will join the Bass for another rep of Part 4, end on another open Dminor, which you'll cut short and then strike again.
Have
fun,
Patrik
