The Time Traveler's Wife (2009): The book's so lovely... The movie apparently sucks (they don't even get people's hair colour right) but I might watch it.

♥ ***Queer As Folk US (the UK is pretty good too, but nowhere near. Even though it skips the bad lesbic subplots the US version has)- watched complete, rewatched some(with Jaguit & Sharon).
♥ *** Veronica Mars: I'm in love with Veronica, so I'm not a fair judge or anything but, god, this rocks. - watched all 3 seasons, will watch any episode twice too. Made everybody in the family watch it (and be grateful)
♥ *** South of Nowhere, creo que después de Merlin (season 1) es la serie que más rápido se me pasó en mucho tiempo, y por ahí si no tuviera 3 temporadas… En fin, tenemos una familia de Ohio que se muda a California y descubre que el mundo es más complicado (ya sé, ya sé, chocolate! + cliché) de lo que pensaban. Los Carlin son Mum (doctora de urgencias) + Dad (asistente social), Clay(17, negro, estudioso), Glen (17, rubio, basquetbolista y mujeriego hasta donde le da la habilidad) y Spencer (16, rubia, con nombre de varón por que los norteaméricanos están locos, parece más inocente de lo que es). El primer día de colegio Spencer(NF) conoce a Ashley Davies(SP), hija de un cantante de Rock y una socialita divorciados, que honra mucho a los pelirojos con su carácter desbocado y lo mucho que disfruta rompiendo las normas. Spencer comete el error de preguntarle a Ashley dónde queda una clase y le vuelca el café y Ashley la manda a la mierda, pero más tarde se le acerca mientras ella mira a Glen jugar al básquet y le ofrece llevarla a casa (y por “le ofrece” quiero decir “le hace un gesto a Glen para avisarle y asume que Spencer no puede decir que no”). Spencer está encantada con su nueva amiga, conectan de inmediato y están de acuerdo sobre que los chicos son un desastre (todo a causa del encuentro que tuvieron con el ex de Ashley, Aiden), todo barbaro hasta que Ashley comenta: “menos mal que no son la única opción”, la cámara nos muestra las fotos de Ashley y una chica en su mesita de luz y Spencer inmediatamente se incorpora en la cama en la que están las dos.
Así es Ashley Davies, no hay escena sin shocks, drama, tragedia o teatro. Aunque a Spencer evidentemente le atrae está vida menos tranquila que la que sus muy tradicionales padres le ofrecían (South of nowhere = la libertad en algún destino indeterminado) también le cansa todo el drama. Una advertencia, al principio SoN parece estar en fast-foward porque no vemos la progresión gradual sino momentos al azar y por lo tanto parece que A y S se hacen amigas a velocidades inucitadas, pero bueno, también puede deberse a que no hay que mirarse la primera temporada en 3 días <.<
El otro personaje interesante es Aiden, el ex de Ashley, que además de estar bueno, enseguida tiene onda con Spencer (aunque está saliendo con Madison, barbie fatal y capitana de las animadoras) y nunca dejó de sentir algo por Ashley. Nunca llega, para mí, a ser un triángulo amoroso, porque Aiden nunca puede competir ni con Spencer por Ashley ni con Ashley por Spencer.
Además de la homosexualidad y la aceptación en la familia (la madre de Spencer no se toma bien el tema) SoN trata otros temas interesantes como drogas, embarazo adolescente, adopción, raza, discriminación. Casi nunca dice nada nuevo pero lo que dice lo suele decir con clase y sin pasarse de obvios (normalmente). La relación entre las protagonistas es apasionada sin dejar de ser realista (aunque Ashley se salta un montón de cosas por ser millonaria). La serie funciona porque los actores, aunque no son geniales, son interesantes. Y bueno, porque Spashley is HOT.

think that what i love most of all the things I love about Hana Yori Dango it’s
the fact that Makino’s and Tsukasa’s relationship is not hearts and flowers.
There’s violence from the beginning, and there’s even a scene that constitutes
sexual assault*. And it’s not that they get through society’s prejudices to be
together. The get through who they are and what they have been through
together. They grow up enough to be together but still banter like the first
day. I can't no mention the banter, being in love and having banter like that?
That must be true love.

♥ Los Simuladores - vi unos cuantos capitulos de la versión argentina pero no me pego, especialmente después del personaje gay super pátetico(había visto la versión española y pensé que la argentina no podía ser igual de homofóbica y estereotipada pero mira vos, creo que era peor) Además de eso hay fallos argumentales y cosas que pasan de lo increible cuando la idea de la serie es exactamente la opuesta.♥ Daria - watched pilot... and I like the quotes?

♥ **due South/ Directo al Sur/ Rumbo al Sur: Ok, está es la historia de Benton Fraser(SJ), un miembro de la policia canadiense (Los Mounties, asumo que tradicionalmente iban montados a caballo), que es un detective espectacular pero se adhiere a un código moral con una dedicación francamente insana, y además asume que el resto del mundo lo hace (a Rousseau le hubiera venido como anillo al dedo para probar la inata bondad humana). Cuestión que al padre de Fraser, también policia, lo matan, le dicen que es un accidente pero no se lo traga y la pista lo lleva desde la-loma-del-orto, Canadá a Chicago y al detective en cargo del caso (porque el asesino aparentemente venía de ahí), Ray Vecchio. Entre una cosa y otra, resuelve el caso pero termina quedandose a trabajar con Vecchio porque en el proceso desvela un complot financiero que no deja a la policia canadiense muy contenta con él. dS es hilarante porque a Fraser y a quienes los rodean les pasan todas las cosas raras imaginables y Fraser, Vecchio(SP) y más tarde Kowalski(SP), son capaces de hacer que parezcan aun más ridículas con una combinación de sarcasmo, sinceridad, quejas y torpeza. También puede ser profunda, especialmente cuando el padre de Fraser decide aparecersele a su hijo y contarle todo lo que nunca le contó cuando estaba vivo (porque nunca se veían) y darle consejos que casi nunca tienen sentido, excepto cuando lo dicen todo como "There's no ship like partnership", que podría ser el lema de la serie, en la que salen muchos casos pero que gira en torno a la evolución de la relación entre Fraser y primero Ray Vecchio y después Ray Kowalski.
Notes: This extremely short novelette (17.000) managed to engage both my heart and mind immediately, not to let go till the very last line. Charly Gordon has an IQ of 68, so when his teacher, Ms. Kinnian, recommends him for a project to enhance human intelligence, he's delighted, deeply aware of his faults and of the many things he misses in life with his very limited capacities. Algernon is a laboratory mouse who undergoes the procedure before Charly, and who wins when competing with him in mazes tests. The operation works, Charly starts to improve at an amazing velocity, soon he can understand actual books and spell, and not long after he's surpassed the doctors who devised the experiment. His intelligence, though, brings on an isolation his lack of it never had but the idea of it not being permanent terrifies both Charly and his former teacher and now friend and love interest, Miss Kinnian.
I loved both Charly, the mentally retarded genius, and the Charly the genius he later becomes. The progressive change of voice through his reports is masterfully done, to the point that you are as surprised as him when he ends up being too intelligent for normal people. Charly’s realization that he’s, as a genius, looking down at people like himself, not to mention the way that, in the same vein, only as a retard he has thought for Algernon’s comfort. My only complaint is that it was so short and I would have loved to hear all and every detail in Charly’s life before, after and through. I’m off to download the movie!
