Jack Johnson Will Cool The Globe One Community at a Time
The singer-songwriter’s summer tour, partnering with All At Once, will be all green, all the time.
Eugene, Ore., March 11, 2008
The summer tour will celebrate Jack Johnson’s latest album, Sleep Through The Static, which was released in February.
The tour will minimize distribution of paper at shows and use 100% recycled paper and soy-based inks for all printed materials. More green band actions and tips for spectators.
The album was recorded using 100 percent solar energy, printed on 100 percent post-consumer waste recycled paper, and carrying the one percent For The Planet logo.
Johnson’s tour will provide on-site water stations, waste management, and recycling services.
It will reduce waste with the use of biodegradable food service items and reusable water bottles that can be refilled on-site.
The band will fuel tour vehicles and generators with biodiesel (where available) to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 78 percent.
The tour will offer eco-friendly tour merchandise, including organic cotton clothing, reusable water bottles, and tote bags.
On March 13, 2008 the tour begins in Australia and ends on Aug. 24 in San Francisco. Complete list of tour dates.
All At Once is a social action network where people can discuss issues and events, explore non-profit groups, and take action to make positive change in their local and world community. More about All At Once.

Quotes about Jack Johnson:
“We tried to integrate as many of Jack’s suggestions as possible. These actions are worth implementing at anyone’s suggestion; but coming from someone like Jack Johnson,
who enjoys playing our venue and takes these things such to heart, makes it that much more meaningful. We plan to incorporate some of the changes into our standard
operations. We will always think of Jack as the guy who inspired us to take that step.” – Seth Hurwitz I.M.P./Promoter/Operator of Merriweather Post Pavilion
“He has sold more that 15 million albums combined (his soundtrack music for the children’s film “Curious George” sold well over a million copies in its first year of release).
But don’t think this is just some Hawaiian beach bum who got lucky: Johnson is also an impassioned environmentalist who wants to use his music to inspire awareness and
action. He’s also not one to rest on his laurels.” – Jac Chebatoris, Newsweek
“At a moment of increasing eco-vigilance among rock bands, […] Johnson stands out as a longtime beacon.” – Nate Chinen, International Herald Tribune
