Dear Sir or Madam;

We are in the process of organizing our Environmental/Global Youth Awareness Fair at Champlain Centre Mall on April 26, 2009, and would like to invite you to join us.  This year’s event will take place in conjunction with Earth Day and Global Youth Awareness Day. This will be our third year hosting this event, and with the collaboration of community partners such as yours, we hope to make it an annual event.  If you are interested in taking part in this event by putting together a booth, running an activity, speaking, or helping with door prizes, please fill out the enclosed form and send it back to us in the self-addresses stamped envelope provided.

The event will take place at Champlain Centre Mall with registration starting at 11:00 am.  We are asking all organizations setting up booths to check in at the mall entrance next to the gizmo or ball machine.  The fair itself will run from 12:00 until 2:00 pm, with booths set up through-out the mall.  We also hope to have a few government officials as well as community partners speaking on environmental/global issues.

This program is sponsored by:  Learn & Serve America and the League of Women Voters.

Learn & Serve America is a program through which students in the Plattsburgh City School District do community service projects which allows them to apply school learning to life.  The Environmental/Global Youth Awareness Fair will give these students an opportunity to become experts in some facet of their environment or on a current global issue and share their knowledge with others.  Better yet, students will be able to work right alongside interested adults from the community, making connections and feeling like they can make a difference in their world.

For several years, the local League of Women Voters has been working with students through Learn and Serve, as well as working on their own to research issues relating to recycling and the environment.  This group of concerned citizens has taken an active interest in helping our society make better choices about environmental issues.

Please contact Karen McCarthy by phone at, 518-562-9009, or by email at lsa@cvfamilycenter.org with any questions.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.  We look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Sincerely:

Karen McCarthy
