A01: A Flying Piece of Paper

Have you ever made your own paper airplane? Different designs of paper airplanes vary in stability, speed, distance of travel, direction of travel (some go straight ahead, while others follow a circular path), etc. Some of them are easier to make or have better appearance than others.

Mission:

Each group please design and make your own paper airplane(s), after which you would demonstrate your paper airplane to the rest of the class.

Instructions:

  1. Use a piece of A4 printing paper to make an airplane of your group. You may use any color you like, and decorate your paper airplane by drawing the logo or slogan of your group on the plane, etc.
  2. During the exploration session, show your airplane to the rest of the class and explain the features of your plane. You may use other tools (e.g. PowerPoint slides) to aid your presentation. You would also need to “test fly” your plane, both indoors and outdoors, in front of your classmates.
  3. After the class, each group please write a few sentences (as comment to the blog post) to introduce the features of your plane, how you make it, etc. You may also include a link to a picture of your plane. Of course, do not forget to write down the names of your group members.
