Q: The space that seems to appear full of objects, is surely no other
than space shaping itself into many forms but still remaining as space.
My laptop I am typing on is therefore space appearing as a laptop. It
can't be an object seperate from space, because it couldn't appear,
could it. But space and time are made out of mind because they have
reality relative to that which observes the appearances.
So even if there was a world that existed independent of any
observer, it couldn't be known. It would be silly to deny the existence
of anything, though, because surely light seems to enter the eye and
form an image in the brain. I am beginning to see that when it is
pointed to that the universe appears in awareness as awareness, the
mind is seen as a creator of form from the formless. But mind activity
such as perception, sensation and thought, are no other than awareness
appearing to itself in form, but also not changing its original form.
Because if it did change its original form of knowingness, it couldn't
know any appearance.
Therefore, when we talk about concepts labeling and pointing to
objects but not actually being the object, one could also say that
the so called object, whether its an apple a planet or an anxious
feeling, they simply point to the ever present nowness, in which, and
as which, everything arises- including the thought "I am an individual".
It seems then that feeling oneself to be an individual is always
pointing to another possibility in the eternal NOW. The story therefore
can continue for this apparent individual or character, but there is a
recognition that being being an individual is seen as a story or play
only. There seems to be a relaxation in that realization, because what
you thought you were is no longer at stake.
A: Yes, very nice. "one could also say that the so called object, whether its an apple a
planet or an anxious feeling, they simply point to the ever present
nowness, in which, and as which, everything arises- including the
thought "I am an individual"."
You
are seeing that the mind translates this indescribable immediacy into
stories and THAT is duality itself. THIS can never be separated by a
thought, simply because thought appears IN this nondual immediacy.
THIS, right here and now, is all there is. Past and future come
NOW as thoughts. This moment doesn't move - the concepts move within
the moment - the changes are measured (translated) which create the
illusion of time and space in mind only.
And THIS is nondual - not-two.... Oneness. Wholeness.
Limitlessness. It is the mind which interprets THIS and in that
interpretation the veil of separation is created. Yet it can only be
the wholeness itself translating, being fooled, and recovering from the
foolishness or "ignorance".
When this is clearly seen, the swinging pendulum of past and future
scream to a halt, along with the stories dependent on these concepts.
What remains is what already IS - THIS. And then the mind can
translate to it's content - once the mirage is seen as a mirage - it
may still appear as water yet we no longer seek to quench our thirst.
