Great week! We managed to get a lot accomplished. Let's keep up the pace.

As you can probably tell, this Romulan skirmish will soon be blossoming into an all out war. And you just know I'm goin to steer us right in the middle of it, don't you?

A few people asked to involve their own NPC federation ships into the battle; that's great! This is a great simming oppurtunity for everyone here to spread their creative wings (oooh, cliche metaphors galore today...) If you have an idea that you want to sim, let the command team know so that no toes are stepped on.

Plotwise: READ THE MISSION ASSIGNMENTS SECTION! We need to keep this momentum going, and to do that we need to maintain our direction. If you have questions, ask away.

Greetings everyone!

 

We're really in the thick of the plot now. We've had our first battle with the Romulans, and it certainly won't be the last so don't venture too far from your battle stations.

Will Shane manage to broker a Mutual Defence Pact with the Erassians? And will Starfleet be able to defend against a fleet of 50 Romulan warbirds? We'll have to wait and see...

 The week kicks off with the arrival of 1Lt Jade Reese ::Waves hello::  Together with Captain Nickels of the Quasar they observe the targeted behaviour of the Romulan Warbirds who seem more interested in the whereabouts of the USS McCoy than in finishing off the unarmed Quasar.  The First Battle of Charos VI gets underway as four Romulan warbirds along with 30 Heavy fighters attack the assembled Starfleet ships however an ingenious move by Cropa removes two of the Warbirds.  In a series of brutal attacks Tal'Shiar sleeper agent Ens. David Martin cuts down his former comrades on his way to his next target.  Meanwhile on the Qashqai Vlimar has to deal with both a Romulan Warbird and an incompetent subordinate to boot...somehow I think there's a possible charge of conduct unbecoming in Mr Vlimar's future.  Shane then promptly orders the Qashqai to continue towing the Quasar back towards the other ships at Charos VI.  Vlimar after battering the incompetent subordinate's head into the Tactical console with great force Vlimar calmly reports to the Commodore that the Tac console is offline.
 
Meanwhile aboard the Chimera Rick examines the damage caused by Ens. Martin's bomb and realises that they need to hurry to get the impulse engines back up and running.  The Qashqai arrives at the outer edge of the battle zone and engages a Romulan Warbird but only succeeds in doing minimal damage before the Warbird looks to finish them off when the cavalry arrives in the shape of...well you'll have to wait till the next log!  The First Battle of Charos VI rages on as Chimera Lashes out against the encroaching fighters and with two Warbirds en route things look bad.  In their darkest hour help arrives in the shape of the Erassian Second Fleet and unexpected help from the planet surface.  Natalia is stuck on the McCoy which is having some weaponry problems.  On the Quashqai things go from bad to worse as their reinforcements in the shape of the fox are destroyed with them managing to save a few survivors but their bacon is saved with the arrival of the Erassian ships sent by General Ivanov.  The Qashqai's battle is viewed from a different perspective from Vlimar.  Back on Chimera Tommy finds a discrepancy in the crew records.
 
On the McCoy Gustav and his newly acquired chum Alan Walker start to get along better with a long dialog about compooter software which my brain couldn't analyse without the chance of exploding.  Needless to say our valiant engineers save the McCoy (if not my brain!) and head back to Chimera.  Athena and Viktor watch as the Erassian Fleet decimates the remaining Romulans but Athena is having a hard time under the mental strain of the battle being assaulted as she is by the screams of the dying.  On Chimera Rick goes through the damage done to his department and thanks his lucky stars that reinforcements are on the way.  MaiKai and her dedicated staff work their way through healing the injured concentrating on the badly burned victims of the Romulan assault.  
 
Meanwhile the USS Lancelot recieves a call from Admiral Janeway and changes it's course for the under assault SB: 234...those Romulans get everywhere don't they!  The USS Wilson's celebrations of it's Captain's retirement is brought to a sour end by the news that SB: 234 is under assault by 50 Romulan Warbirds.  The decision is made to turn and engage despite the poor tactical qualities of the Edison.
 
So will our bold Commanders and Commodores make the decision to aid SB: 234?  Will Charos VI receive the antidote for the virus plaguing it? And will Viktor finally get the chance to throw Shane out an airlock?  Find out next time on the next exciting instalment of Yu Yu Hakusho...no wait USS Chimera!

'Pride comes before a fall'............

Vlimar nodded and tapped on the the console. Torpedos were
flying away, as the Q was going up, down, left and right,
evading the Warbird's attacks. The Q was able to place two
torpedos on the shield generator that seemed to worry the
romulans. But they didn't stop for that reason. They went
even stronger towards the Q. "This is good... we hurt their
pride", Vlimar shouted, for no particular reasons.

"Sir, the bird is heading towards the Quasar. I need an
intercept course", Vlimar said. He stopped firing torpedos
and reduced his phaser firing by 50%, until he was back on
track. The Helm officer nodded from his position and
readjusted the Q so it is looking in the eyes (so to speak)
of the warbird.
"You think you are pretty now, huh?", Vlimar said, looking
at the warbird through the viewscreen. "Let's get you a
facelift", he added at the same time he pressed on his
console. Suddently, 8 torpedos were sent at the bird's
bridge view screen as all phaser cannons supported the hit.
The damaged were considerable from the outside, but Vlimar
knew he just randed the bird blind.

Fame at last?.....

"Ready, Captain." Dexter called. It was funny that a pulse
wave was labeled useless in Starfleet Tactical manuals. He
found at least one usage for that thing ... {maybe I'll get
a paragraph in the new version of Academy Tactical guide} he
said to himself. {If we survive this} he thought as he
waited for the Captain's command.
