Stitch Guide

RIB PATTERN *K2, p1; rep from * across round

M1R Pick up the bar between stitches from back to front and knit into the front

M1L Pick up bar between stitches from front to back and knit into the back





CO 33 stitches {24} divide into three needles – 12st 9st 12st. {9st 6st 9st}

Join in the round and rib knit for 4 inches {3in}

Now knit all stitches and knit for another inch to base of thumb then


THUMB GUSSET

  1. K1, M1R, K1, MIL, knit to the end of round

  2. Knit a round

  3. K2, M1R, K3, M1L knit to the end of round

  4. Knit a round

  5. K2, M1R,K5, M1L, knit to the end of round

  6. Knit a round

  7. K2, M1R, K7,M1L knit to the end of round

  8. Knit a round

  9. K2, CO5st {3st} place 9 {7st} stitches onto a stitch holder and knit to the end of round

  10. Knit a round

  11. K1, sl1, psso, K2, K2tog, knit to the end of round

  12. K1, sl1, psso, K2tog, knit to the end of round


Continue to knit until the top reaches the top of the little finger then decrease as follows:

  1. *K1, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round

  2. knit a round


Repeat steps 1 & 2 until there are four or five stitches left, then with a darning needle pull yarn through these last stitches, remove needles and pull tightly to close the gap and weave in ends.

THUMB

Pick up the 9 stitches on the holder onto one DPN then with another needle pick up and knit the stitches across the top of the thumb opening and knit (clockwise) til thumb desired length. BO and weave in ends.

FINISHING

Weave in all ends. Use leftover yarn to close any gaps at base of thumb.
