Sew Q’s No-Knit Winter Mitt

sewq.wordpress.com

Take two rectangular pieces of clothe in a colour and style you prefer in a size of your choosing. Fleece and jersey are recommended for this for a bit of ‘give’ and for warmth. The rectangle should be measured from base of fingers to wherever you want the mitt to end (either wrist or mid arm).

The width of each rectangle should be a rectangle which, once folded over will be the size you require.

Step one: Overlock/serge or zigzag stitch on a sewing machine all the edges to stop any fraying.

Step two: Hem the sides.

Step three: Half the fabric and sew about an inch or so from the top and stop. Leave a gap for the thumb, then continue to sew to the bottom.

Step four: Hem the top and bottom.

Repeat the procedure for second mitt and tad a – you have a non-knit mitt!
