Venue
The Montgomery Hall, Church Street, Wath-upon-Dearne, S63 7RD

Arrival time:

Headliners to arrive at 14:15pm to load in. You may arrive as early as 12:00 if pre-arranged, however, you must allow the sound and lighting crews to load in and you are not permitted onstage until 14:30 unless previously agreed in writing.

Load in is through the front doors on Church Street. These stay locked when not immediately being used (see Door Security) and if they are locked, there is a bell to the right of the doors, or you can phone Kris on the number above.

Door Security
The front doors of the venue must remain locked unless loading in/out or a member of your band is going out to smoke. You must ensure the doors are locked if you intend to leave the venue for any amount of time. Do not let general public into the venue, and do not open the door to anyone ringing the bell to come in unless you personally know them. Wath-upon-Dearne has a criminal population and the White Bear estate nearby is a well known area for high crime.

Dressing Rooms:
These are located under the stage. Room 1 (first on left) is the green room and is where the tea and coffee facilities are located. This is also used as the production office, so please keep your families and friends out of here. This room may be locked at times during the gig.

Room 2 (middle on left) is for the Headline band only. This room has a shower. You can request the key for this room, however there is a £10 deposit on it (enforced by the Montgomery Hall, not us).

Room 3 (far room on left) is for the Support Bands only and is a shared room. You are advised to limit access to these rooms.

We do not operate security and expect all to be vigilant.

You must ensure the corridor and fire exit passage are kept free of boxes, cases etc. Please put any cases in your dressing room or in the green room, or to the rear of the stage (ensuring a wide clear passage is left).

All dressing rooms have clothing rails, seating, level surfaces for make-up etc., mirrors, good lighting, and individual toilets as well as expelair fans for ventilation. Note that they all have smoke detectors and the use of smoking materials and incense sticks is strictly prohibited (and remember, folks, smoking is also illegal in public buildings in the UK).

Soundchecks
:
Headliner soundcheck commences as soon as possible after 14:30 and MUST BE FINISHED AT 17:30 PROMPT. If you are late, your soundcheck will be cut short accordingly.

Opening band
soundcheck commences at 17:30 PROMPT and MUST BE FINISHED AT 18:30 PROMPT. Opening band to be at the venue no later than 17:00. DO NOT BE LATE!

The middle band
will only be able to line check and only then if time allows.

Headliners should ensure a stage plan or at least a basic equipment specification is sent to the CRS office at least 2 weeks before the gig. Support bands are advised to make contact with each other to discuss any gear sharing. It is assumed that opening and support bands will share a drum kit at the bare minimum and in most circumstances the opening band will provide this. If you cannot arrange kit share then we must allow 10 minutes extra in each change over and as such must reduce each set accordingly.

THERE IS NO FLEXIBILITY IN HEADLINER SOUNDCHECKS, WE HAVE HEARD ALL THE EXCUSES AND EGO-CENTRIC COMMENTS, AND THE SOUND CREW, LIGHTING CREW, AND VENUE CREW DON'T ACTUALLY CARE AND DO NOT NEED TO TAKE YOUR CHILDISH TANTRUMS AND PATHETIC WHINGING SO DON'T EVEN GO THERE.

Note that to comply with current employment laws regarding breaks etc, we cannot allow soundchecks to over-run.

Evening Meal

If provided - this will be delivered at 18:00. The evening meal is for the headline band only.

Other Food / Drink

Food and drink in the Green Room is shared between all bands and crew, however, bottled water in this room is usually in limited supply. Water from the taps in the dressing rooms is safe to drink. Any food in Room 2 is for the headline band only.

Please note that you must not take your families/friends in the green room as it also serves as the production office.

Stage Times
Doors - 19:00 prompt.
Opening Band - 19:05 to 20:45 (to play 40 minutes) / 30 minutes if drum kit share isn't arranged
Middle Band - 20:05 to 20:50 (to play 45 minutes) / 35 minutes if drum kit share isn't arranged
Headliner - 21:15 to 23:00 (this time must include any encores) (maximum 2hr 0min set including encores, 1hr 30 seems to be the norm though)

Where a 2 band line-up is specified, the middle band plays for 1 hour and stage time is 19:45 till 20:45.

Curfew is 23:00 and must be strictly adhered to. WE WILL MUTE THE DESK AND POWER DOWN AT 23:00 SO DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!. The local authority impose strict conditions with us being in a venue close to housing.

Safe Closure
At 23:00 the music ceases, from either bands or the PA. This is the curfew.

It is then your decision as to how you wish to sign autographs, but the main auditorium will be cleared of public immediately on the finish of the music and no later than 23:05, although they are still permitted in the entrance lobby & corridor until 23:30.

At 23:30 the venue is deemed closed and all public will be cleared out.

Breakdown of kit
You have until 23:30 to clear the STAGE unhindered. We cannot emphasise how important this is as after 23:30 the CRS will not support you in your claim if your fragile gear gets damaged during the PA de-rig as you will have displayed negligance in failing to protect your valuable items. The PA and lighting crew will not enter the stage until 23:30 to allow you time to do this, however, you must ensure all cases are loaded into the auditorium.

Personal Equipment Insurance & PAT Testing
The CRS is not required to carry insurance as a mutual society. If you intend using valuable equipment on stage you are expected to protect your equipment as you would protect your other personal belongings.

All electrical equipment used on stage requires a current Portable Appliance Test label and must be safe and wired correctly. Any extension leads used must also be up to current electrical safety standards. Earth connections on amplifiers and other appliances requiring an earth must be connected. You are not permitted to lift the ground on any appliance except using a correct switch on the appliance designed for such a purpose and fitted/designed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Do not leave valuable or fragile equipment in the wings or corridors during other bands shows. Stages are dangerous places and you must be duly careful with valuable and easily damaged musical instruments.

The Venue
The venue is a purpose built auditorium with some seating, some standing. The seating is tiered and comprises approximately 100 seats on 9 levels. The capacity of the venue for fire regulations is 300 (which also includes bands and crew). CRS Gigs are ticketed to 275 to allow for this.

The stage is a scaffold built hollow stage 28ft wide by 18ft deep. It is approximately 3ft 6in high and has one set of steps to the front (which are usually removed once the gig is opened)

Either side to the rear has a set of steps, and each side has a nice sized wing for cases, technicians etc. If a monitor desk is specified this is always set up stage left and we do not have the facilities to change this layout.

Power

Power is 32A to the stage and 63A to the lighting. Onstage power is provided by the sound crew using UK standard plugs. Please ensure you bring adaptors/variAC units as we cannot provide these. Do not plug into any other sockets (either on stage, or to the side of the stage) as you may cause earth hum problems by doing so.

PA
Our PA systems are provided by Waveplay. We can equip most systems, however, this is at extra cost to the band. Generally the desks we are provided with are Yamaha LS9 digital or Allen and Heath analogue. If your own engineer prefers any one over the other we can sometimes arrange this. Waveplay provide the in-house engineer and they will mix any band if required.

Our usual specified PA is around 32 channels with 5 channels of monitoring and 5K front of house.

Note to sound engineers - a 102dB limit applies inside the venue and no area outside 1m of the speakers may exceed this limit. This is applied by the local authority and we do not have the power to over-ride this. Recent gigs have been subject to spot checks, so please be aware of this.

Lighting

Lighting is provided by the CRS and comprises 24 parcans on stage and 8 to the back of the auditorium. We do not use any of the Montgomery Hall's in house lighting as it is not suitable for our purposes and has no DMX facility. We can also hire in various specialised lights at a cost to the band. The desk is usually a "fat frog". RAS Lighting provide engineers to operate the lighting rig, although you can use your own. Note that we specify a minimum requirement on coloured GELS to allow all bands to look good, so please bear this in mind. We do not generally allow Green in front lighting.

General Rules

1. No flash photography.
2. No video tripods to be set up in the auditorium or onstage without prior permission and correct health and safety proceedings being taken.
3. Onstage photography is prohibited.
4. No viewing from onstage (only CRS crew are permitted in the wings during a live gig being in progress)
5. Any families/friends may only go in your own dressing room and must not go in the green room or other bands dressing rooms. They also must not go down the back of the stage.
