David Dunn.

BORN; 1964.

LANGUAGE; Wiradjuri – English.

COUNTRY; Wiradjuri Nation.

AREA; Trangie.

My name is David Dunn; My Aboriginal name is Gaagang. Born in 1964. I am Wiradjuri. I come from a small town 50 miles west of Dubbo called Trangie (in Aboriginal this means" quick", "intercourse"). I use some of the traditional symbols my father and uncles showed me but I try to use my own style. I was told by an Elder from the Warburton community to paint what you feel not what you see, so I paint from the heart and from the memories of my childhood. Our family's totem is the emu and I have been told I have an extremely strong sense of Spirit and Family.

RETURNING HOME

This painting depicts the Wiradjuri Hunters returning home after a days successful hunt.

Tonight there will be plenty of tucker for a great feast. They will give thanks to there creator.

They have been on a fishing journey across the country side to the Murray River. The hunters have been fishing for the Murray cod. The three main rivers of the Wiradjuri Nation", The Wambool (Macquarie), Kalar (Lachlan) and Murrumbidgerie (Murrumbidgee)which I use as symbols for my signiture.
