Sun n Fun 2008

 The annual Sun n Fun aviation extravaganza will br cranking up this year at the Lakeland, FL Linder Regional airport (KLAL). It runs from Wednesday April 8th through Sunday the 13th. Here's the link for the event:http://www.sun-n-fun.org. There you can find all kinds of info.

 

There is so much air traffic congestion during this event, the FAA has issued a special Sun n Fun NOTAM. Here's the link to that:

This document spells out exactly what every PIC needs to know for arrivals, approaches, departures and all things pertinent to flying your plane to the Sun n Fun event. I think it's an interesting read even if your not making the flight.

 

There is a scenery file at AvSim that will provide the VFR cues that you will need to make the arrival at Lakeland-Linder. This includes a "can't miss" lights display at the power plant, the "water tower" and the "cake tower". Look for sun_n_fun.zip.

 

The NOTAM also includes a list of nearby airports as well as frequencies and flight services info. It's a handy reference for all your flying in central Florida.
