Micah at five

You love everything about school

Play, learning, friends, rules, teachers

Schools were made for kids like you.

At home you idolize your big brother,

And do your best to ignore your little brother

Until he does something so funny

That belly laughs

Shake you

All

The

Way

Down

To

Your toes.

You are famous for being unbelievably

Sneaky. Hiding.

Under the bed

In the back of the closet,

In the shower

Under your bed

Behind the couch

Everyone in the house searches for you, calling your name over and over and you make

Not. A. Sound.

Silence.

Then, raucous laughter when you’re finally found.

You hide our phones under your pillow at night.

You take extra pieces of candy when we’re not looking.

You play computer games or turn on the TV when you think no one is watching.

“I tricked you! I got you!” hopping up and down like it’s Christmas. You make it difficult to stay annoyed for long.

The role you play between your brothers is unmistakably one of
Realist. You'll pretend sometimes, but only when lead there by Lij.
You will take almost any risk
(as long as it doesn't involve pain)
stage in front of hundreds? bring it on.  new classroom?  new teacher?
No problem.
Independence is your friend as is rest,
you fall asleep in record time every night.

You are soft- all over soft.

You can snuggle and lie completely still in my arms-

The perfect teddy bear.

You love to touch smooth skin

But daddy’s whiskers can stay far away.

Your face lights up with a hug or a kiss

And you look me right in the eye-

“I love you too Mommy.”

I love you too Micah. At five you are-

Incredible!

May God bless your life, your future, your family, and your love.
