The Drive Preparatory School is a Co-educational school for 7 to 16 year olds. It consists of two schools Prep/College on The Drive, Hove. It is non-selective.

We believe that although the course ultimately offers G.C.S.E, one of our main objectives is to provide a stimulating and caring environment. A place where every effort is made to understand the particular needs of your child, for they all differ.

We have a class maximum of fourteen pupils in the Prep dept  Although each class has a form tutor, teachers qualified and specialising in particular subjects ensure that your child’s learning is enhanced by knowledge from other subject areas.

One of the main school aims is to help the children develop positive attitudes to life.   The school has a Non- Bullying policy. It has a Travel plan to raise road safety awareness.

We believe that early, fluent reading is a great joy to a child and one of the main keys to success. We use our own very successful  ‘Action Reading’ method which has been praised by OFSTED.

There is a Speech and Drama department to boost both confidence and English work.

Design & Technology, Art, Team Sports, and Swimming are also part of the curriculum as is French and Spanish from 7 years old.

Science is taught as Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Ecology.  Information Technology, Drama and Art are strengths of the school.

We have a good selection of G.C.S.E. options.  Subjects are taught in the Key Stages following the National Curriculum guidelines. The S.A.T.S tests are taken by the children at ages 7 and 11

(After school clubs for: Gardening, Sports, Information Technology, Photography and Drama are offered free) and continue until 4.30p.m.in the Upper school. Dance and Art are also available and finish approximately 5.00p.m.

We do not expect every pupil to follow the same course in the same manner,

but we do intend to help your child achieve his/her full potential.
