Senior Week Writing Assignments

Distinguished Alumni Speech

It is June of 2036, and Tyngsborough High School prepares to induct you into its “Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.”  At the ceremony you will be asked to give a short speech (2-3 minutes) in which you explain how THS enabled you to achieve great things in the last 20 years.  Explain what you have achieved, why it has been important to your community (wherever that may be) and show how it all started at THS.  Write the text for your speech (you will not have to give the speech).  Type II – 20 lines. 

Make the Teacher Cry Letter

Assignment:  Write a (word processed) letter to a teacher or coach who has had the greatest influence on you as a student during your twelve years of education.  It does not have to be a teacher at this school.  Explain to them why you have taken time to write this letter (to thank them, not because I assigned it).  Use specific detail when describing how they have impacted your life (i.e. a specific lesson, piece of advice, etc).  Explain why that was important to you.  Tell them what your immediate plans for the future hold.

I will not read these letters (unless they are addressed to me), but I will deliver them.  I will trust that what you put into the envelope (which  I will provide) will be appropriate for this assignment.
