Trusting In God

Why Trust

Proverbs 3:5

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

The Promises For Trusting

Psalms 125:1

1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion,

which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

  • We will not be shaken!

  • What a promise this is to us, how many of us don’t ever want to be shaken

  • We have a firm foundation in God and there is nothing that this world can do to us to take that away

Proverbs 29:25

25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare,

but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

  • If we trust in man we will be let down

  • There is only one that we can place our trust in and have it never fail

  • This is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who is seated at the right hand of God

Proverbs 30:5

5 "Every word of God is flawless;

he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

  • How many of us sometimes feel that we need to be protected from the things of this world?

  • Well, when we place our trust in God He becomes our shield

  • This shield protects us from all attacks of the enemy

Jeremiah 17:7-8

5 This is what the LORD says:

"Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

who depends on flesh for his strength

and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands;

he will not see prosperity when it comes.

He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,

in a salt land where no one lives.

7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,

whose confidence is in him.

8 He will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes;

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit."

  • I really feel like this Scripture sums it all up quite nicely

  • If we place our trust in man our plans and future will fail

  • Our lives will face utter ruin

  • Mankind was not meant to trust in anyone other than God for all of their provisions

  • Not some of their provisions but all of them

  • But then we see what we have in trusting God

  • We will be blessed and fulfilled

  • When others are dying off because of their lack of trust we will stand firm

  • And during these times of draught we will still bear good fruit while others are withering away

  • Why is this?

  • Again I believe that this is because in our trusting in God He can be glorified through our lives even in the midst of difficult times.

Why We Can Trust God

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—

where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—

he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—

the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—

he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

  • God will not allow our feet to slip

  • God is never sleeping on the job and He knows all that is going on

  • The sun and the moon have significance that both day and night God is protecting us and watching over us

  • God is here to keep us safe and watch over our lives

  • God keeps His eyes on us at all times

  • We merely need to trust in Him and follow His instruction

And Now A Question:

If these promises are all true, why does God allow Christians to suffer?
