Subject: Non-Credit Courses and Article 27 Compliance
It has come to my attention that numerous courses offered by the Center for Lifelong Learning and Professional Development may not be in compliance with Article 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Article 27 (C) (1-5) specifically establishes the procedures necessary for non-credit courses to be offered by the university. According to our records, neither potentially affected departments nor APSCUF-KU have been notified of the non-credit courses offered in the following programs:
Gatlin Educational Services Certificate Programs
Education to Go (ed2go)
Cheetah Learning
Professional Development Programs for Educators on CD-ROM (VESI)
Canine Training and Management
Summer Reading Skills Program
International Code Council
Project Management Workshops
In order to avoid an Article 27 policy grievance, APSCUF-KU would like to provide the Center for Lifelong Learning thirty days to comply with the provisions mandated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement or provide documentation of current compliance.
I will be available to discuss this issue at length with you or any of your staff.
